Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a tooth of a patient to a position where the tooth functions optimally and is aesthetically pleased. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a dental template to position an object onto the tooth of the patient includes a process for preparing a model of the tooth of the patient; a process for adding the object in a prescribed position on the tooth model; and a process for manufacturing the dental template to position the object in the tooth of the patient. The dental template supports, in one aspect, the objects to be positioned onto the teeth of the patient oriented to array all the objects in an ideal arrangement defined by a user as the whole. The method of manufacturing the dental template includes a process for digitalizing the tooth of the patient, a process for adding a virtual object in a prescribed position on the digitalized tooth, and a process for manufacturing the dental template to position the object in the tooth of the patient. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move patient's teeth to a position where the teeth function optimally and are also aesthetically pleasing. SOLUTION: A method for fabricating a dental template to position an object on a patient's tooth includes the steps of: preparing a model of the patient's tooth; adding objects to predetermined positions on the tooth model; and fabricating the dental template to locate the object at the position on the patient's tooth. The dental template supports positioning the object on the patient's tooth oriented in such a way that all the objects as a whole are lined up to a user-defined ideal arrangement. The method for fabricating the template includes: digitizing the patient's teeth; adding virtual objects to predetermined locations on the digitized teeth; and fabricating the dental template to locate the object on the patient's teeth. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provides better data for communicating device compliance with patients, including: increased patient knowledge and recall of appliance usage; increased compliance in wearing the dental appliance, and increased patient satisfaction as a result. SOLUTION: The apparatus for monitoring orthodontic treatment compliance includes an appliance 15 adapted to be worn over one or more teeth, and a compliance indicator 100 mounted on the appliance to indicate compliance. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for intra-oral delivery of drugs.SOLUTION: The system enables drugs or therapeutic agents to be delivered through a mouth. The system provides ideal drug delivery for certain diseases relating to periodontics, tooth surface, and endodontics, and diseases associated with cancer and medical conditions. For dental diseases, the system is placed so that release of the therapeutic agent occurs in the immediate vicinity of the disease process. As the volume of distribution is limited to the volume of gum pocket or crevice, relatively high concentrations of therapeutic agent can be delivered by devices with small therapeutic agent reservoir capacities. The small amount of therapeutic agent required under these conditions, typically a few milligrams, greatly reduces the effect of the therapeutic agent at distal sites within the body, thereby greatly decreasing the potential for systemic side effects. Thus, a high degree of effectiveness is achieved using a relatively small amount of drug.

Abstract:
Pliers for forming and removing bumps for the dental appliance without heating are disclosed. The pliers for making the bumps include a first elongated member having a first jaw portion at one end and a handle portion at the other end, the jaw portion having a projection mounted at a distal end of the first jaw portion; and a second elongated member joined to the first elongated member, the second elongated member having a second jaw portion at one end and a second handle portion at the other end, the second jaw portion adapted to receive the projection to create the bump in the dental appliance without heating. The bump can be supplemented with a material such as an adhesive.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for repositioning the teeth of a patient by providing a digital model of each tooth of the patient; determining one or more root parameters from the digital model; and digitally moving one or more tooth models and evaluating a treatment outcome based on one or more root movement clinical constraints.
