Abstract:
Process for repairing plastic coatings of metal pipes that allows one to obtain said repair using only a flame as the source of heat, comprising the application of protective shields during specific operating phases.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a method for the permanent application of indicia to the surface of the polyolefin object by applying pigmented material to the surface in an indica pattern, preferably from a transfer sheet. Preferably the pigmented material is a mixture of finely divided pigment, hydrocarbon wax and finely divided polyolefin. The polyolefin surface bearing the indicia is coated with a coating mixture comprising a mixture of polyolefin and a binder such as a rosin or wax. Thereafter, the coated, indicia-bearing polyolefin surface is surface-heated to a temperature sufficient to fuse the coating and incorporate the coating and indicia permanently into the polyolefin object. The heating can be performed by passing a heat source across the surface.
Abstract:
A method for printing the cylindrical side surfaces of synthetic resinous corks used for wine bottles which are normally not receptive to printing inks. The method includes the steps of gas flame heating (12) of the corks to molecularly align the surfaces for ink receptivity; the application of a printed image using an offset roller (42); the drying of the ink in a heated conduit (50); and the subsequent application of a high viscosity lubricant in dot pattern using an offset printing roller (42). The application of the lubricant in a pattern covering less than the entire surface permits the cork to release sulphur dioxide gas for oxygen scavenging of any air passing into the bottle, as well as air disposed in the head space within the bottle.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for coating a plastic component (1) comprising the steps of: flame-treating a coating surface (2; 2.1; 2.2) of the plastic component (1) with the aid of a coating unit in order to surface-activate the coating surface (2; 2.1; 2.2); applying a moisture-curing hot-melt adhesive (4) to said coating surface (2; 2.1; 2.2); and heating the hot-melt adhesive (4) after the application step. The method is characterised in that the coating surface (2; 2.1; 2.2) is heated with a heating unit (5) prior to the flame treatment step.
Abstract:
The method for flame spraying thermoplastic powders provides to heat the article to be coated at a suitable working temperature and to feed the said thermoplastic powders, transported by an inert gas, a flow of compressed air and a flow of liquefied petroleum gas through respective separated discharge chambers (7, 9, 12), shaped inside a mixing device (1) of a spray gun. The thermoplastic powders are then projected, in a resulting flow (30), on the heated surface of the article to be coated, to determine the melting of the same powders at their contact with said heated surface. At least one couple of flows (31, 32) of compressed air is sprayed converging towards the resulting flow (30) flowing out of the mixing device (1), giving the resulting flow (30) a substantially flattened fan shape.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a plastic from a group comprising polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polypropylene/ethylene-propylene-diene-rubber (PP/EPDM) or mixtures thereof, wherein the plastic is coated by a primer comprising a halogenized polyolefin, and the primer is coated by an elastic paint cured by polymerization using a radical reaction, wherein the plastic is an expanded plastic, wherein the paint prevents the penetration of moisture.
Abstract:
Coated articles may comprise one or more coating layers, including water resistant coatings. A method comprises applying such coating layers by treating the article substrate by one or more methods selected from flame treatment, corona treatment, ionized air treatment, plasma air treatment and plasma arc treatment and dip, spray or flow coating. Additionally, a method comprises injection molding a first substrate material to form an article, treating the article surface by one or more methods selected from flame treatment, corona treatment, ionized air treatment, plasma air treatment and plasma arc treatment, and overmolding the article substrate with one or more barrier materials.
Abstract:
Subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of a silicon release-layer on an inorganic or organic substrate, wherein a pretreated substrate is first covered with an adhesion promoting composition and subsequently a silicon and/or fluorine containing composition is applied as the top layer.
