Abstract: A cable elevator includes a car which travels on first parallel guides and a counterweight which travels on second parallel guides, the guides being located in a respective first and second parallel planes. Drive machinery is arranged on an engine mount between the guides, the first guides extending upward past the mount, the second guides ending at the mount. Laterally spaced lower guide elements and laterally spaced upper guide elements are fixed to the car and engage the first guides. A support cable is fixed to the underside of the car so that the car can pass the drive machinery vertically.

The drive for the trolley comprises a roller chain 15 constructed to resist buckling passing over chain wheels 16, 17 which can be driven in either direction by a motor 21 and through a guide 26 and a pivotable guide 27. The end elements 15À1, 15À2 of the chain engage an entrainment member 14 on the trolley by roller pins 15À4 entering slots 14À1, 14À2 and fingers 15À31 resting on members 14À3. Counterclockwise rotation of the wheels 16, 17 moves the chain and entrained trolley to the left, Fig. 1, until with the guide 27 moved to the position shown, the end element 15.1 disengages from the member 14 and moves through the guides 27, 26 while the element 15À2 remains engaged with the member 14 and due to the rigidity of the chain 15 extends out over the guide 27 until the trolley 8 is wholly on a shelf 4. After depositing the load reversal of the chain drive draws the trolley into the lift cage the guides 26, 27 guiding the end 15À1 of the chain into engagement with the wheel 16 and the member 14.

Abstract: The invention relates to an elevator system having a suspension and a suspension for supporting and/or moving at least one elevator car (3) in an elevator system (1), wherein the suspension (12) can be guided and driven at least by means of a sheave (4), in particular a traction sheave (4.1) of a drive machine (2) of an elevator system (1), and the suspension (12) comprises a body (15) made of a polymer and at least one tie beam (22) extending in the longitudinal direction of the suspension (12) and embedded in the body (15) and made of wires (42) and is present as a cord or rope. A thickest wire (43) having the greatest wire diameter ? in the tie beam (22) comprises a bending stress ?b in a range from ?b = 350N/mm2 to 900N/mm2 when bending the tie beam (18) about a least bending radius r, and wherein the bending stress ?b results as a function of the elastic modulus E and the diameter ? of the thickest wire (26), according to the following equation: ?b = (?*E)/2r, wherein the suspension (12) is run about a smallest pulley having a least pulley diameter D in the elevator system (1), the pulley diameter D thereof corresponding to no more than two times the least bending radius r: D ? 2r.
