Abstract:
A door closer has a cam and follower mechanism for transmitting movement between a spring and an operating member which is connected with a door. Guide elements for the cam follower can be adjusted relative to a housing to adjust the orientation relative to the housing to which the operating member is urged by the spring.
Abstract:
An overhead door mechanism with torsion type counterbalance springs includes a spring adjustment device comprising a housing suitable for attachment to a horizontal shaft and a gearing mechanism that allows angular adjustment of the attached end of the spring relative to the shaft. The gearing mechanism includes a toothed ring gear member adapted for connection to the spring and rotatably mounted in the housing. A threaded worm is also mounted in the housing so that it engages the teeth of the toothed member. Rotation of the threaded worm induces a corresponding rotation of the toothed member. The rotation, when conveyed to one end of a spring that is fixed at its other end causes the spring torsion to be altered without releasing the spring from retention by the adjustment mechanism.
Abstract:
A door closer assembly for connection between door and frame members relatively movable between open and closed positions includes a housing having a power screw rotatably mounted therewithin. A follower is mounted on the screw and moves axially along the screw when the screw is rotated. A spring is disposed in the chamber and is compressed by the follower. A handle member is mounted for rotation about a first end of the housing and is connected to the screw for rotation therewith. An indicating member is mounted on the housing for axial movement relative thereto. The indicating member is in engagement with the handle whereby rotation of the handle results in simultaneous axial movement of the follower and the indicator member. The indicator member includes visually observable means for indicating the relative degree of compression of the spring.
Abstract:
A door check wherein a housing is affixed to the pivotable panel and a guide rail is affixed to the frame of a door. The housing contains a shaft which is rigidly connected with one end of an arm the other end of which is slidably guided by the rail. The shaft carries a disc cam having two asymmetric sections one of which is tracked by a spring-biased follower tending to return the panel to its closed position and the other of which is tracked by the piston of a damper which yieldably opposes the movement of the panel back to its closed position. The configuration of the two cam sections is selected with a view to allow for a reduction of the resistance which the follower offers to opening of the door shortly after the panel leaves its closed position as well as to ensure that the damper can operate independently of the follower and vice versa.
Abstract:
A device for tensioning and extending an elongate helical tension spring, one end of which is anchored and the other free end of which is disposed toward and spaced from a structure to which the spring is to be connected. The device includes a frame with a spring engaging saddle engageable with a side of the spring, between the ends thereof. The device next includes an elongate flexible girdle with one end anchored to the frame extending about the spring and having the other end releasably coupled to the frame. The device next includes a manually rotatable winch drum carried by the frame, a manually operable ratchet releasably stopping rotation of the drum and an elongate tow line with one end portion connected with and wound about the drum and its other end portion extending to and releasably coupled to the structure to which the spring is to be connected.
Abstract:
A garage door spring stretching device having hook means for attachment to the bracket of a garage door hinge and spring support assembly. The chain is attached to the hook and also to one end of a lever. The lever has a slot in which a slidable hook is held for attachment to the garage door spring. By use of the lever and slidable hook a garage door spring may be stretched and affixed to the garage door bracket assembly.
Abstract:
The buffer device (10) has a body (11) which can be fitted in a rail (4), a damping element (12) for cushioning, and a retaining spring (12) for retaining running mechanism (6) which is guided in the rail(4) and is provided for carrying and guiding slidable wing elements (2). The at least approximately U-profile- shaped body (11) of the buffer device (10) , which body is punched and bent from a metal element, has, a first and a second wing (14. 18), which wings are connected to each other by a central piece (20) whose tongue-shaped extension forms the retaining spring (13) serving to retain the running mechanism (6). The end pieces (17.19.26.17*.19*) of the wings (14.18) are configured in such u manner that they are suitable for retaining the damping element (12). The buffer device (l0)can be manufactured cost-effectively from single metal plate and can be completed by a damping element (12). Since the retaining spring (13) is component part of the body (11) of the buffer device (10), the device is highly stable.
