Abstract:
A coating composition comprising:(A) 100 parts by weight of a vinyl polymer having on the main polymer chain end or a side chain thereof at least one silyl group containing a silicon atom to which a hydrolyzable group is linked, per one polymer molecule, the main chain of the vinyl polymer consisting essentially of a polymer of a vinyl monomer,(B) 0 to 10 parts by weight of a curing catalyst,(C) 0 to 10 parts by weight of a hydrolyzable ester compound, and(D) 0.5 to 100 parts by weight of a dialkyl ester of dibasic acid having the formula (1): ##STR1## The coating composition of the present invention has excellent adhesion to under coats, and therefore it is suitable for use as automotive refinishing paints and industrial coatings.
Abstract:

Abstract:
There is provided a one-part, moisture curable coating composition comprising: a silyl terminated polymer, wherein the silyl terminated polymer is polyoxyalkylene polymer having at least one end group derived from an alkoxy silane, and a polyether plasticizer, and further the polyether plasticizer has a number average molecular weight between 300 g/mol to 600 g/mol. There are also provided articles and films made using and methods for using these coating compositions.
Abstract:
A curable film-forming coating composition, typically a clearcoat, having improved compatibility over waterborne and solventborne basecoats. The composition includes a film-forming binder comprising a carbamate material, a curing agent, typically a monomeric melamine curing agent, and a hydroxy functional silane component. When used as a clearcoat over a standard pigmented basecoat, the resulting coating provides a substantially wrinkle free appearance and excellent adhesion to both waterborne and solventborne basecoats.

A film-forming coating composition, typically a topcoat, having improved adhesion. The composition includes a film-forming binder comprising a carbamate material, a curing agent, typically a melamine curing agent, and a hydroxy functional silane component. When used as a clearcoat over a standard pigmented basecoat, the resulting coating provides excellent adhesion to both windshield sealants and additional repair coatings.
Abstract:
Curable compositions capable of giving a cured article excellent in weatherability and flame retardancy. 1 One of the curable compositions comprises an organic polymer having at least one crosslinkable hydrolyzable silyl group and a phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of the phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absorber and a light stabilizer is inhibited. 2 The other composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a urethane resin, epoxy resin, and/or modified polysulfide resin and 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of a phyllosilicate. It has enhanced weatherability due to incorporation of the phyllosilicate, and has further enhanced weatherability because the bleeding of an ultraviolet absorber and a light stabilizer is inhibited.
Abstract:
A shelf-stable water-borne dispersion or solution that cures rapidly and at low temperatures when coated onto a substrate can be prepared with an aqueous-based solution or stable aqueous dispersion of a polymer having a backbone containing pendant silanol groups which are sufficiently neutralized to inhibit silanol condensation.
