Abstract:
A friction control article (20) including a backing layer (21) having a first surface (24) with an array of at least 100 upstanding stems (26) per square inch and a second surface (25). At least a portion of the upstanding stems is an elastomeric material and the stems have an aspect ratio of at least 1.25. The first surface has a static coefficient of friction when dry of at least 0.6 and a static coefficient of friction when wet within 20% of the static coefficient of friction when dry. The first surface has a peel strength and a tensile strength of substantially zero when engaged with another slip control article. The first surface has a relatively high shear strength when engaged with another slip control article. The high shear forces are due primarily to the frictional properties of the elastomeric materials, not a mechanical interlock of the stems, such as on a mechanical fastener.
Abstract:
There is provided a coating composition comprising: (a) a one part moisture cure polyurethane comprising: an aromatic polyurethane prepolymer having backbone derived from polyether and at least one aromatic end group, wherein the coating composition comprises about 8 wt% to 90 wt% polyurethane prepolymer based on the total weight of the coating composition; (b) 2 to 60 wt% of an inorganic filler based on the total weight of the coating composition; and (c) 2 to 60 wt% of a solvent based on the total weight of the coating composition, wherein the coating composition, when cured, is a water-vapor semi-permeable, air and water barrier film. There is also provided a cured coating composition and articles made therefrom.
Abstract:
Presently described is an adhesive composition comprising at least one isobutylene polymer and an alkyl amine adhesion promoting agent. The alkyl amine is unreactive with respect to the isobutylene polymer. In favored embodiments, the alkyl amine adhesion promoting agent comprises an alkyl group having 6 - 24 carbon atoms. Further, the isobutylene polymer is a non-halogenated copolymer or homopolymer. Also described are adhesive articles a pressure sensitive adhesive, as described herein on a backing. The adhesive is particularly suitable for articles intended for use in a wet environment such as kitchen or bath articles.
Abstract:
Adhesive compositions are described comprising a) a non-functional isobutylene (co)polymer, b) an amine-functional poly(isobutylene) polymer, optionally an acid- functional (meth)acrylate copolymer, and optionally a tackifier.
Abstract:
There is provided cured coating compositions derived from a one-part, moisture curable composition comprising (a) a polyoxyalkylene polymer having at least one end group derived from an alkoxy silane, and (b) a plasticizer selected from at least one of linear or branched alkyl benzoate having between 8 and 14 carbon atoms in the alkyl chain, and combinations thereof; where the cured coating composition passes ASTM D-1970. There are also provided articles and films made using and methods for using these cured coating compositions.
Abstract:
There is provided a one-part, moisture curable coating composition comprising: a silyl terminated polymer, wherein the silyl terminated polymer is polyoxyalkylene polymer having at least one end group derived from an alkoxy silane, and a polyether plasticizer, and further the polyether plasticizer has a number average molecular weight between 300 g/mol to 600 g/mol. There are also provided articles and films made using and methods for using these coating compositions.
Abstract:
There is provided a coating composition comprising a one-part moisture-curable polyurethane comprising a polycarbonate back bone and at least one end group derived from an aliphatic isocyanate; and a liquid hydrocarbon resin, where the liquid hydrocarbon resin is non-reactive with the at least one end group derived from an aliphatic isocyanate. There are also provided articles, film, and methods of using the presently disclosed coating compositions.
Abstract:
A stem web is disclosed that comprises a backing layer having a first surface 5 and a second surface, and an array of 600 to 20000 upstanding stems projecting from the first surface of the backing. The stems comprise a height from 0.3 and 2.0 millimeters and a shore hardness less than 90A. In one embodiment, the stem web further comprises a reinforcing layer secured to the second surface. In one embodiment, the stem web is secured to a tool to be passed across a surface to be cleaned to capture lint and hair.
Abstract:
Friction control articles for use in healthcare applications, the articles generally comprising a backing layer having a first surface and a second surface, where projecting from the first surface of the backing layer is an array of stems, wherein at least a portion of the exterior surface of the stems comprises an elastomeric material. Also disclosed are friction control articles having a coefficient of friction when dry along at least a portion of the first surface is at least 0.6. Multilayered and dual-sided friction control articles are also provided.
