Abstract:
A lubricant coating disposed between a substrate and a counter surface comprises a reaction layer immediately adjacent the substrate. A bonding layer is immediately adjacent the reaction layer, with the bonding layer comprising a first composition. A low friction, lubricious layer is immediately adjacent the bonding layer, with the lubricious layer comprising a second composition that is different from the first composition.
Abstract:
A composition comprising (a) fine spherical particles of an inorganic substance such as alumina, (b) an aqueous adhesive agent such as a petroleum resin emulsion, and water. It is preferred for better effect that the composition further comprises one or more selected from among (c) a wisker, (d) a powder of an inorganic substance in a form of a scaly crystal, (e) a powder of a metal hydroxide or an inorganic substance having bound water, and (f) a lubricant aid. The composition is free from problems of the occurrence of environmental pollution and the risk of misoperation of an automatic machine, which accompany a conventional graphite lubricating and releasing agent, and that of the danger of smoking or firing, which accompanies a conventional lubricating and releasing agent dispersed in an oil, and is useful as an aqueous lubricating and releasing agent for hot or cold forging using a non-graphite inorganic substance, which is free from occurrence of the deposition on a mold and an under fill phenomenon.
Abstract:
Magnesium hydroxide or mixtures of magnesium hydroxide and boron nitride applied, e.g., by spraying in a liquid vehicle onto surfaces of a sheet (22) of a superplastic formable metal alloy facilitate the forming of such sheet material and the removal of the formed sheet material from the forming tool or die (10).
Abstract:
A rolling bearing which has a satisfactory life at a low cost even under such service conditions that water is incorporated into a lubricant either externally or due to dew condensation, or that vibration has an influence, and is particularly suitable for electrical equipment and accessories of automobile engines, such as alternators. The hydrogen ion index pH of a grease sealed in the interior of the bearing is adjusted to 7 to 13. For attaining similar effects, the pH of the grease is adjusted to 5 to 13 when an organic metal salt or ADTC has been added in a predetermined amount to the grease, when an inorganic compound having an average particle diameter of not more than 2 mu m has been added in a predetermined amount to the grease, or when a diurea compound containing an aromatic amine or a mixture of diurea compounds has been added as a thickening agent to the grease.
Abstract:
The invention provides composites of organic polymeric compositions including a matrix of an organic polymer and a filler distributed throughout the matrix, the filler being present in the matrix substantially as separate particles, each about the fundamental particle size of the filler. The fillers are unique mixed metal hydroxide compositions that are obtainable in sub-micron size particles. These particles are layered and have a BET specific surface area in excess of about 100 m /g. An anion of the particulates is selected to be compatible with the organic polymer thereby providing ease of dispersion of the filler particles throughout the polymer matrix.
Abstract:
A solid lubricant additive for resin-bound friction lining mixtures is characterised in that it contains a combination of copper-I-sulphide (Cu2S) with at least another sulphide of molybdenum, zinc, antimony, wolfram, tin and/or titanium.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition comprising a boric acid additive suspended and/or dispersed in an oil, grease, or polymer base. The inventive lubricant exhibits excellent resilience and load-carrying capacity over a wide range of temperature and use conditions.
Abstract:
A water washable thermally conductive grease useful for thermal coupling of electronic chips and heat sinks in electronic modules comprises a hydrophilic liquid polymer carrier, an antioxidant, and up to 90 weight percent of a microparticulate thermally conductive filler. In a preferred embodiment, the thixotropic dielectric composition further comprises an ionic surfactant to promote wetting/dispersion of the microparticulate filler. The thermally conductive grease is non-corrosive, resistant to shear induced phase destabilization and capable of being washed from module surfaces with aqueous solutions. Substitution of the present hydrophilic based greases for art-recognized solvent washable greases eliminates use of non-aqueous solvents in electronic module processing/reprocessing operations.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene sheet produced by extruding polyethylenic material comprising an ultrahigh-molecular polyethylene of a viscosity-average molecular weight of 0.3 to 2 million into a 100 to 300 νm thick sheet.
Abstract:
Aqueous-based functional products such as household or commercial cleansers, household products, commercial products, and personal care products are thickened or viscosity-modified by the addition of at least one crystalline mixed metal hydroxide of the formula LimDdT(OH)(m+2d+3+n.a)Aa .xH2O, where m is zero to one, D is a divalent metal, d is from zero to 4, T is a trivalent metal, A is at least one anion or negative-valence radical of valence n, where n is 1 or more, (m+2d+3+n.a) is equal to or greater than 3, (m+d) is greater than zero, and xH2O is waters of hydration.
