    Abstract: An electric device (100) is suitable for use in first orientations (101) and in second orientations (102). The electric device (100) has a first function (103), a second function (104) and a user interface (105) with a first part (106) and a second part (107). In response to activating either of the parts (106), (107), one of the functions (103), (104) is performed by the electric device (100). To achieve a more consistent user interface (105), the mapping from part activated to function performed is adapted in dependence upon an orientation in use. The orientation in use is detected with a detector (108) comprising a gravity sensor (109). The gravity sensor (109) can contribute to distinguishing left from right and inside in from inside out.

    Abstract: Communication unit comprising a housing (1) in which at least one transducer is placed, and on which a microphone arm (2) is suspended. The housing also has an ear hook (6) for fastening the communication unit to the head of a user. The microphone arm (2) is pivotally connected to the housing (1) by a hinge link (3, 4, 5) at an outer area of the housing, and so that the microphone arm (2) can be moved between a position in which it lies up against the housing (1), and a position in which it extends away from the housing. The microphone arm has a length, which in the main is less than or of the same order as the greatest extent of the housing, so that in the folded-in state the microphone arm does not project out over the circumference of the housing. The communication unit can be used on both the right and the left side of the head, in that the ear hook (6) can be suspended in two different positions.

    Abstract: A headset has an earpiece and a flexible microphone boom. The headset is designed and constructed to be lightweight, flexibly adjustable, and comfortable to wear. The earpiece fits comfortably over an external portion of an ear of a wearer and between a head of the wearer and the ear. The earpiece is designed to be easily adjusted for a secure, comfortable fit. In the preferred embodiment, the earpiece includes a rigid plastic backbone and a ductile wire. In an alternate embodiment, the earpiece includes a rigid plastic backbone, a spring, and a ductile wire. The earpiece has an asymmetrical U shape, facilitating easy adjustment to fit securely around the external portion of the ear. A speaker module is coupled to the earpiece and designed to rest over a pinna of the ear when the earpiece is worn over the ear. A small speaker is mounted inside the speaker module. The speaker module is coupled to the earpiece by a ball and socket joint integrally formed as part of the earpiece. A speaker cushion is configured to fit over the speaker module and has a lip which fits within a groove of the speaker module. The speaker cushion is compressible to facilitate stably positioning the speaker module against the pinna.
