Abstract:
This invention relates to quinidine derivatives and immunogenic conjugates and reporter conjugates prepared therefrom. The immunogenic conjugates and reporter conjugates are useful for eliciting antibodies and for performing immunoassays for quinidine. A particle agglutination immunoassay for quinidine is also provided.
Abstract:
A method for measuring or controlling the volume of a liquid segment confined within a tube and having a leading edge and a trailing edge. The tube is exposed to radiation at an angle and radiation refracted from the inner surface of the tube is measured at the leading and trailing edges of the segment while the liquid segment is moving through the tube.
Abstract:
A formulation for stabilizing enzymatic activity and immunoreactivity of creatine kinase and creatine kinase isoenzymes comprising animal serum, creatine kinase and/or creatine kinase isoenzymes, an effective amount of a buffer having a pKa in the range of 6.2-7.6 to maintain pH of the formulation at 6.7+/-0.1, an effective amount of a non-thiol antioxidant to prevent oxidation of creatine kinase or creatine kinase isoenzyme thiol groups, an effective amount of a non-reducing polyol to stabilize immunoreactivity of creatine kinase or creatine kinase isoenzymes, and an effective amount of an antimicrobial to prevent microbial growth is provided.
Abstract:
A readily disposable ion selective electrode assembly, free of onboard reagents, for use in analyzers has a reference element and plural sensor elements linearly positioned in parallel on a substrate. An elastomeric flow channel member containing two parallel grooves creates flow channels on the substrate above the elements. The substrate holds the elastomer in compression and is retained by snaps injection molded into a housing. Electrical contacts and leakfree fluidic connections are provided by spring loaded connectors through the housing. Reference and sample fluids are drawn through the respective flow channels and come together to form a liquid junction downstream from the sensor elements. Bubbles, that might otherwise cause erroneous results, are detected.
Abstract:
An automatic chemistry system having a wheel for mounting reaction vessels is provided with a programmable permanent magnet which is selectively positioned adjacent a reaction vessel to separate magnetizable particles in the vessel from the vessels liquid contents. This facilitates performing heterogeneous immunoassays.
Abstract:
A method is described for establishing a hierarchial library of spectra representing the point-by-point characteristics of known samples. Vectors representing each spectrum are classified according to their similarity and dissimilarity. Vectors representing unknown samples are compared to known groups of vectors according to similarity until a near match is found.
Abstract:
Immunoassays and DNA probe assays utilizing a non-immune, reversible binding displacement system are provided. In the assay, a releasable ligand, a binding partner for the releasable ligand, an analyte of interest, an analytically detectable (reporter) group, and at least one binding partner for the analyte, are first attached to an insoluble phase so as to form reporter-labeled complex bound to an insoluble phase, followed by the addition of a displacer ligand which displaces the releasable ligand along with some portion of the reporter-labeled complex, so that the released reporter is analytically detectable in a free liquid medium and can be related to the concentration of analyte in the sample.
