Abstract: A mat is used in a method for the manufacture of glass fiber reinforced plastics or carbon fiber reinforced plastics as a layer for the absorption of excess resin expelled during the manufacturing process. The mat consists of thermally bonded plastic fibers, with at least one side of the mat having a solidified surface with a smaller pore size. Various methods are described for the manufacture of glass fiber reinforced plastics or carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
