    Abstract: An inherently pliable polymeric marking film is disclosed which comprises a film component containing an internally plasticized vinyl chloride copolymer resin, a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive and, in preferred embodiments, a release coated protective liner. In certain embodiments, the polymeric marking film is destructible. The marking film has a small degree of shrinkage, shows exceptional conformability to irregular surfaces and has permanence of mechanical properties upon exposure to elevated temperatures.

    Abstract: A titanium halide containing component suitable for use in a catalyst system comprising said component and an aluminum containing component is obtained by co-pulverizing a halogen containing magnesium compound, e.g. MgCl2, with an electron-donor compound, e.g. ethyl benzoate, to produce a co-pulverized product. The co-pulverized product is then reacted with an organic phosphite, e.g. triphenyl phosphite, to produce a reaction product. The reaction product is then reacted with a titanium halide compound, e.g. TiCl4. A catalyst system for the polymerization of alpha-olefins includes such titanium halide containing component and an organoaluminum component.

    Abstract: Dichloroacetylamides selected from the group consisting of: (a) N,N-diallyldichloroacetamide, and (b) N-dichloroacetyl oxazolidines having the formula in which R is hydrogen or C1-C3 alkyl are produced in a continuous circulating process by reaction of dichloroacetyl chloride with respectively N,N-diallylamine or an oxazolidine having the formula in the presence of an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide. The conduct of this process in a continuous circulating fashion produces the desired amide in greater yield than by the heretofore practiced batch processes.

    Abstract: A process for reacting a mixture of branched and linear alcohols with a caustic, optionally in the presence of a catalyst, to produce a reaction mixture containing carboxylic acid salts, and to liberate hydrogen comprises introducing into the reaction mixture at about a time when a significant evolution of hydrogen from the mixture begins to occur, an effective amount of an inert diluent for the reaction mixture. The effective amount is sufficient to maintain the fluidity of the reaction mixture. A preferred diluent is mineral oil. By operating in this way the tendency of the reaction mixture to foam and solidify is reduced, thus permitting the reaction to proceed to completion and permitting the easy removal of the reaction mixture from the reaction zone. The production of a branched and linear mixture of carboxylic acid salts which substantially corresponds to the branched and linear mixture of alcohols reacted is also ensured.

The benzoic acid chloride intermediates of this invention have the following formula wherein R6 is C1-C4, alkoxy or C1-C4 alkylthio; n is the integer 0 or 2; and R7 is C1-C4 alkyl.
