Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing Eriobotrya japonica seed extract for preventing or treating diabetes is provided to control the amount of blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, and insulin. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating diabetes contains hexane fraction of solvent extract of Eriobotrya japonica seed as an active ingredient. The solvent extract is obtained using alcohol solution of 1-4 carbon atoms. A food composition for preventing or treating diabetes contains hexane fraction of the extract as an active ingredient.
