    Abstract: A polygonal reflective illumination apparatus is provided to increase resistance against dusts and humidity by implementing an illumination apparatus in a polygonal reflective configuration. A polygonal reflective illumination apparatus includes a shielding case(100), an optical source(112), a first reflector(122), a fly-eye lens group(124), and a second reflector(132). The shielding case is fixed on a frame and includes an inner cavity and input and output holes. The optical source is attached to the input hole and irradiates light into the cavity. The first reflector is attached inside the cavity and reflects incident light from the optical source into parallel light. The fly-eye lens group is attached inside the shielding case, generates uniform parallel light from the light reflected by the first reflector, and outputs the uniform parallel light. The second reflector is attached inside the cavity and reflects the incident light, which is reflected by the fly-eye lens group, to the output hole.

    Abstract: A display apparatus using a monolith optical system is provided to reduce the size and simplify the optical configuration of the display apparatus by arranging an optical source, a cylinder lens, a parabolic lens, and a diffractive optical modulator in one case. A display apparatus using a monolith optical system includes a shielding case(100), an optical source(110), a first reflector(120), a second reflector(130), and a diffractive optical modulator(140). The shielding case is fixed on a frame and includes an inner cavity and input and output holes. The optical source is attached to the input hole and irradiates light into the cavity of the case. The first reflector is attached in the cavity correspondingly to an outgoing surface of the optical source and has a parabolic shape. The first reflector reflects a forward incident light into a parallel light and a reverse incident light into the output hole. The second reflector is attached in the cavity to face the first reflector and has a parabolic shape. The second reflector reflects the forward incident light into a focused light and the reverse incident light into the parallel light toward the first reflector. The diffractive optical modulator is attached in the shielding case to face the second reflector, modulates the incident light to generate a diffraction light, and outputs the diffraction light toward the second reflector.

    Abstract: A display device using an optical modulator equipped with a lens system having improved numerical aperture is provided to easily design an optical system because the increase in the numerical aperture of lenses is not required. A diffractive optical modulator(710) generates diffracted light having plural diffraction orders by modulating light incident through an illumination lens. A relay lens system(740) selects the diffracted light having desired orders from the diffracted light generated by the diffractive optical modulator, and passes the selected diffracted light therethrough. A numerical aperture reducer(750) reduces a numeral aperture by causing positive order diffracted light and corresponding negative diffracted light of the diffracted light to approach each other. A projection system(760) condenses the diffracted light onto an object.
