Abstract: A signal dependent noise estimation apparatus and a method thereof in a camera module are provided to estimate noise of a video by using information about a low frequency band in case of a video where wavelet-conversion is previously performed. A signal dependent noise estimation apparatus comprises a wavelet converter(401), a noise estimator(407), a noise eliminator(409), and an inverse wavelet converter(411). The wavelet converter performs wavelet conversion of an input image and performs separation into high and low frequency components. The noise estimator estimates noises by using the low frequency component. The noise eliminator removes noises of the high frequency component by using dispersion of the noises transmitted from the noise estimator. The inverse wavelet converter restores the high frequency component and the low frequency component, from which the noises are removed, into an original image.
