    Abstract: A portable terminal and a character input method equipped with a touch screen realizing a copy/pates function are provided to input a character key such as a character used repeatedly by copying the copied character, a character string or an image. A storage(140) comprises a clipboard(145) storing character according to the detected drag. If the drag is sensed through a touch screen, a controller(130) determines whether the character on the sensed region exists in a typing mode. If the character indicated in an area which the drag is sensed, the controller determines whether the touch is sensed through the touch screen. If the touch is sensed, the controller stores the indicated character in the clip board.

    Abstract: A Hangul input processing method using a touch screen and a Hangul inputting apparatus are provided to simplify and layer the arrangement of consonant keys in a virtual keyboard type, and design the arrangement of vowel keys in the heaven(.), earth(eu) and man(i) type so as to be suitable for the touch screen. A sensor(110) senses an input on a touch screen(150), and then outputs information about a selected key on a vowel key display unit(120). If the sensor detects the first input for selecting one of consonant keys displayed on the touch screen, a vowel key display unit outputs an instruction, which commands to display vowel keys including the heaven(.), earth(eu) and man(i) keys around the selected consonant key, on the touch screen. If the sensor detects the second input for selecting one of vowel keys, a decision unit(130) determines the consonant for the first input as the initial sound and the vowel for the second input as the medial of a Korean orthographic syllable, and then outputs the determined character.
