Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis prevention and treatment is provided to have no toxic in the rat of chondrocyte and macrophage and prevent the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. CONSTITUTION: A composition for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis prevention and treatment is made after mixing 150 parts by weight of kalopanax pictus, 650-750 parts by weight of quince, 50-150 parts by weight of angelica sinensis, 50-150 parts by weight of ginger, 50-150 parts by weight of raphanus sativus, 150-250 parts by weight of saururus chinensis or dried mixed extracts from the ingredients above. And the extracts are active ingredients to the composition. The composition has a function for preventing inflammatory cytokine and matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs), inflammation and pain and normalizing the structure of joint and enhancing the activity of chondrogenesis factor.
