Abstract: PURPOSE: A distribution video codec apparatus and a sub information generating method using the same are provided to reduce complexity of encoding by including a sub information generating unit into an encoding unit. CONSTITUTION: A PDWZ(Pixel-Domain Wyner-Ziv) encoding unit encodes a WQ frame and a key frame. A PDWZ encoding unit(40) is connected with the PDWZ encoding unit. The PDWZ decoding unit decodes the WZ frame and the key frame. A sub information generating unit(30) of the PDWZ decoding unit separates a foreground and a background from the encoded image frame. The sub information generating unit generates sub information in consideration of the foreground and the background.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An adaptation apparatus for reducing packet loss errors of a scalable video cording and a method thereof are provided to remove low dependent packet by analyzing the dependability between scalability layers. CONSTITUTION: A packet scheduler(205) is connected to a scheduling buffer in a node of an IP network which receives a packet from multiple paths. If it is considered the loss of input packets, the packet scheduler removes a low dependent packet in consideration of the dependability between scalability layers. The packet scheduler provides a packet multiplexer with the input packet from which the low dependent packet is removed. A packet loss detection unit(203) detects the packet loss pattern of each NAL by reading out the NALU(Network Abstraction Layer Unit) of the inputted scalable video.
