    Abstract: PURPOSE: A shift control apparatus of an automatic transmission for a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to prevent shift shock by restricting run-up at the initial stage in power-on upshifting and controlling run-up with back duty control. CONSTITUTION: A transmission control unit performs shift control based on the predetermined program by receiving signals from a travel state detector(S100), and detects a power-on upshift control signal in stepping on an accelerator(S110). A duty control signal of 0% is output to release control pressure in detecting power-on upshift(S120). The duty control signal is output with increasing(S140), and kept for the predetermined time(S150). The transmission control unit detects run-up by comparing after keeping the control signal during the predetermined time(S160). The feedback control is performed in detecting run-up(S170), and release of run-up is detected during feedback control(S180). The transmission control unit returns to the main routine in releasing run-up, and detects turbine rpm in not releasing run-up(S190,S200). The duty control signal is output by decreasing in case of the turbine rpm to be at the desired turbine rpm, and run-up is detected(S210). Shift shock is prevented with restricting run-up in power-on upshifting.

CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic pressure discharge time operating device is composed of an engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) detecting unit(11) outputting engine RPM; a turbine shaft RPM detecting unit(12) calculating the engine RPM; an output shaft RPM detecting unit(13) outputting travel speed of a vehicle; a throttle valve opening degree detecting unit(14) outputting the opening degree of the throttle valve; a fluid temperature detecting unit(15) outputting temperature of fluid in an automatic transmission; a transmission control unit(2) deciding traveling state of the vehicle and shifting and fluid temperature according to signals; and a timer(31) counting fluid discharge time of frictional factors according to the control signal, and deciding the fluid discharge time. The transmission control unit calculates pressure discharge time in releasing frictional factors according to temperature ranges and stores in a memory in power-on downshifting, and performs learning control by the calculated hydraulic discharge time. Shifting is controlled accurately with measuring the fluid discharge time according to frictional factors, and the life span is extended with reducing shift shock. The fluid discharge time is compensated according to viscosity of fluid with checking fluid discharge time at temperature ranges.
