    Abstract: PURPOSE: A brush holding apparatus for an alternator is provided to reduce vibration and noises of a brush by enhancing a brush holding force and improve endurance of a brush holding parts by preventing the snapping of a lead wire. CONSTITUTION: A brush holding apparatus for an alternator comprises a brush holder(310) having a guide part and an open shape, a brush(320), a holding part(330), a lead wire(340), and an elastic part(350). The brush is mounted inside of the brush holder and moves toward the length direction of the brush holder along the guide part according to the supply of the pressure to contact to a rotor shaft of the alternator. The holding part is mounted at one side of the guide part and supplies a holding pressure toward the lateral direction of the length direction of the brush to prevent the movement of the brush except for the movement of the brush in pressure direction. The lead wire is mounted on the guide part and connects electrically the brush to the holding part. The elastic part is mounted between an inside of the brush holder and the brush and supplies a pressure force to the brush.

If the driver pulls up the upper shift lever in parking, the hanging pin, installed in the upper shift lever, hangs to the pair of hanging projections, installed in the lower shift lever, by resilient force. The parking force is transferred to the wheel through the parking cable and the car is parked. As the height that the driver pulls is high, the parking force gets stronger. If the driver pulls down the shift lever to the lower stage in releasing the parking as pressing the release button of the shift lever, the hanging pin, installed in the upper shift lever, is separated from the hanging projection installed in the lower shift lever, and the upper shift lever is returned primarily by tension of the return spring. The parking force is transferred to the wheel through the parking cable, and the parking of the vehicle is released.
