    Abstract: PURPOSE: A suspension system for an automobile having variable lever rate is provided to vary the lever rate as moving up and down a shock absorber according to the condition of road surface without using fluid pressure, and to show same function with an active suspension system as rising and falling a car body. CONSTITUTION: A suspension system for automobile having variable lever rate consists of a shock absorber(1') connected to bottom and upper arms(Ab, Au) mounted to a knuckle part of a wheel(W) and a frame(F); a joint(11) connected with a piston road(1a) of the shock absorber; an actuator(10') connected to the joint and fixed to the frame to operate according to an electric control device processing a signal of a sensor(10") detecting high and low change of a tire; a slider fixed in the upper arm and having inclined moving surface for free returning movement of the joint. An actuating road(10a') of the actuator transfers the joint located in a shock absorber center to the location of right displacement according to the moving surface, and inclines the shock absorber to the right. The larger moving lever rate about the fixed lever rate gap from the wheel center to the frame of the wheel varies the lever rate of the suspension device. A pneumatic cylinder is varied through fluid pressure in an active suspension device, and same effect with operation pressing the suspension device is made.
