Abstract: PURPOSE: An electric power steering system and a control method are provided to supply convenience improved for driving straight by optimally control a compensation torque on a lateral force applied from a side direction during driving and by reducing steering feeling of a driver in pulling. CONSTITUTION: A steering torque, a steering angle, a steering direction, and a driving speed are set on a map in order to determine a basic compensation torque. The steering torque, the steering angle, the steering direction, the driving speed, a reentering angle are analyzed in order to determined straight driving. When a vehicle drives straight, the steering angle and the reentering angle are determined so that a lateral force applied from a side direction of the vehicle is determined. A deformation prevention compensation torque is determined according to the lateral force. The deformation prevention compensation torque is applied to the basic compensation torque so that a steering force is supplied to the steering torque for driving straight. When temporary straight driving separation is according to lane change or obstacle avoidance, the steering force is supplied by applying the compensation torque to which the deformation prevention compensation torque is applied. Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling the torque-steer of a vehicle are provided to verify the generating condition of torque-steer and to control the generation of the torque-steer by controlling a motor driven power steering(MDPS) unit which is an auxiliary steering unit. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the torque-steer of a vehicle includes a vehicle speed detecting unit(101), a revolution per minute(RPM) detecting unit(102), a steering torque detecting unit(103), an MDPS motor(105), and a controlling unit(104). The vehicle speed detecting part provides vehicle speed information to the controlling unit. The RPM detecting unit provides RPM information to the controlling unit. The steering-torque detecting unit detects the steering torque of a steering wheel and provides the steering torque to the controlling unit. The MDPS motor supports the steering torque to prevent the generation of under-steering and over-steering. The controlling unit verifies the generation of the torque-steer by analyzing the speed and the RPM of the vehicle.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A steering compensating method of an electric power steering device is provided to increase steering stability and reduce the sense of steering difference through adjusting driver torque through considering the speed of a vehicle and the steering angle of a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION: A steering compensating method of an electric power steering device is composed as follows. The steering angle of a steering wheel and automobile speed is input(S51). A base driver torque according to the automobile speed is determined in case of a driver changes the steering angle(S52). A primary standard angle and a secondary standard angle are compared with the steering angle(S53). In case of the steering angle is smaller than the primary standard angle(S54), a driver torque is set to be changed to a first angle(S55). In case of the steering angle is larger than the primary standard angle and smaller than the secondary standard angle(S56), a driver torque is set to be changed to a second angle(S57). In case of the steering angle is larger than the secondary standard angle, a driver torque is set to be changed to a third angle(S58).

An active steering device includes a steering column(53), a first rack(55), a second rack(57), a first gear, and a worm gear. The first rack is connected to an end of the steering column.
