Abstract: Provided is a barrier adhesive composition comprises polyisobutylene resin, organically modified nanoclay (e.g. montmorillonite or bentonite) and sorbent nanoparticles (e.g. CaO which acts as a desiccant and/or getter). In a preferred embodiment, the barrier adhesive composition is disposed on a gas-barrier film to form an adhesive barrier film. The adhesive barrier film can then be used for protection from oxygen and moisture in OLED displays and solid state lightings, solar cells, electrophoretic and electrochromic displays thin film batteries, quantum dot devices, sensors (e.g. touch sensor) and other organic electronic devices. The adhesive barrier film is especially well-suited for applications that require oxygen and moisture protection as well flexibility and good optical transmittance.

Abstract: Presently describes are articles, such as liquid reservoirs, comprising a liquid repellent surface. The liquid repellent surface comprises a surface layer comprising a silane or siloxane material, wherein the liquid repellent surface is not a lubricant impregnated surface. In one embodiment, the liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) comprise a silicone melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. In some embodiments, the article (e.g. liquid reservoir) comprise a thermoplastic polymeric material.

Abstract: Presently described are components of a spray application system. At least one component comprises a liquid repellent surface layer. The liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) may comprise a porous layer and a lubricant impregnated into pores of the porous layer; a fluoropolymer; a fluorochemical material and an organic polymeric binder; or a fluorochemical material melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. The component is typically a liquid reservoir, a liquid reservoir liner, a lid for a liquid reservoir or liner, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the component comprises a thermoplastic polymeric material. In some favored embodiments, the component is a removable liquid reservoir or liner. In some favored embodiments, the component is a collapsible liquid reservoir or liner. The spray application system typically further comprises a gravity-fed spray gun. Also described are spray application systems, methods of using a spray application system, as well as methods of making a component of a spray application system wherein the component has a liquid repellent surface.

Abstract: Provided are abrasive articles that include a plurality of layers, in the following order: a backing; an abrasive layer; and a supersize coat. The supersize coat contains a metal salt of a long-chain fatty acid and clay particles dispersed therein. Advantageously, the clay particles enhance the optical clarity of the supersize coat, allowing printed abrasive articles to be made with thicker supersize coatings. The addition of clay was also found to improve cut performance of the abrasive article relative to articles in which the clay particles are absent.

Abstract: Articles subject to ice formation during normal use are described. The article comprises a repellent surface such that the receding contact angle of the surface with water ranges from 90 degrees to 135 degrees. The repellent surface comprises a fluorochemical material, typically in combination with a non-fluorinated organic polymeric binder. The fluorochemical material is prefer-ably a compound having the formula: (Rf-L-P)nA Rf is a fluorinated group; L is independently an organic divalent linking group; P is a catenary, divalent heteroatom-containing carbonyl moiety, such as —C(O)O—; A is hydrocarbon moiety; and n typically ranges from 1 to 3. Also described are methods of making an article comprising providing an article subject to ice formation during normal use and providing a liquid repellent surface, as described herein, on at least a portion of the article.
