Abstract: A gas-insulated cable has at least one high voltage tubular conductor (4) surrounded by a sleeve (3) on support insulators (2) and air at atmospheric pressure filling the space. The whole lot is buried in the ground. The conductor(s) is/are predominantly designed in aluminium sections. The sleeve is also made in conducting sections which are slid together. The sleeve is made from corrugated galvanised steel pipe. At the start and finish of the one conductor is an overvoltage shunt between it and the sleeve or between it and the return conductor. An overvoltage shunt forms part of one of the support insulators.

Abstract: The resistor (1) has an electric resistor body (5) arranged between two contact terminals. The resistor body (5) is made of a connector material with a polymer matrix and an electrically conductive filler embedded in the matrix. The filer is in the form of a powder with particles whose average diameter is greater than 1 micron, preferably greater than 10 microns. The filler is a material which is harder and more resistant to oxidation than soot or silver. The resistor (1) is esp. used in a device for limiting and/or switching current. The resistor (1) is associated with a deforming arrangement (4) to elastically deform its resistor body (5). Upon a trigger signal (6) during operation of the device, the deforming arrangement (4) elastically changes the shape of the resistor body (5).

Abstract: The circuit breaker has a contact arrangement provided with switch members which cannot be burned away. The contact arrangement has a stationary switch member (3) and a switch member (4) which is movable along a central axis (2). It also has an insulating sleeve (6) which concentrically surrounds the switch members (3,4). The insulating sleeve(6) has a narrowed portion (7). The insulating sleeve (6) is structured such that resulting burn out channels (10) run perpendicular to the direction of the electric field force. The plastic is preferably an aliphatic polymer or an aromatic polymer. The aliphatic polymer and/or the aromatic polymer may be a polyamide or polyimide or polysulphate or polyphenylsulphate or a similar polymer or mixture of these.

Abstract: The arc extinguishing chamber has a pair of electrical power connections (1,2) and in between are switching contacts that are in the form of fixed spring contacts (3) and an axially movable pin (4). The chamber has a toroidal shaped heating space (7) formed between a cylindrical isolator (8) and an isolating nozzle stage (9). A ring shaped channel is created (10) between the parts. An arc extinguishing material is formed as a coating and during an arc generating switching operation, when the contacts separate, extinguishing gas is produced. The material has a microcapsular structure that releases that gas.

Abstract: The switch has spaced stationary electrodes (E1,E2) and a cooperating bridging contact (2) which connects the electrodes in the closed switch position, with an explosive charge (4) generating the gas for extinction of the switching arc. the bridging contact is provided by a switch piston and an integral contact sleeve (2') having a gas exit opening (3) which is closed by the hollow stationary electrode (E2) in the closed switch position and which leads to a gas exit chamber (8) in the open switch position. An Independent claim for an application of a high-speed current breaker switch for use with a power switch is also included.
