    Abstract: A system and method are described for delivering content to a mobile device using a companion device. The companion device acts as a proxy device to send and receive signals on behalf of other proxied devices. Once content is loaded onto the mobile device, a user can navigate through the content using a navigation path determined based on a user's item of focus. Various transitions and animations can be displayed along the navigation path. Moreover, a user can interact with the content when viewed in a specific layout using touch events or a rotation input device.

    Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, a method is performed at an electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and one or more sensors for detecting intensities of contacts on the touch-sensitive surface, the method comprising: displaying (1202), on the display, a first user interface that includes a plurality of application icons that correspond to different applications in a plurality of applications; while displaying the first user interface that includes the plurality of application icons, detecting (1204) a first input that includes detecting a first contact on the touch-sensitive surface at a location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to a first application icon of the plurality of application icons, the first application icon being associated with a first application of the plurality of applications; in response to detecting (1206) the first input: in accordance with a determination that the first input meets application-launching criteria, wherein the application-launching criteria do not require that a characteristic intensity of the first contact on the touch-sensitive surface meet a first intensity threshold in order for the application-launching criteria to be met: launching the first application; and replacing display of the first user interface that includes the plurality of application icons with a user interface of the first application; and, in accordance with a determination that the first input meets menu-presentation criteria, wherein the menu-presentation criteria require that the characteristic intensity of the first contact on the touch-sensitive surface meet the first intensity threshold in order for the menu-presentation criteria to be met, concurrently displaying a contextual content object and a respective interactive graphical user interface object that is associated with the contextual content object, wherein: the contextual content object includes contextually selected content that has been automatically selected from the first application based on a current context of the electronic device; and the respective interactive graphical user interface object, when activated, is configured to add the contextual content object to a second user interface that includes information for multiple applications and that is distinct from the first user interface that includes the plurality of application icons.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to user interfaces for receiving user input. Some techniques for receiving user input using electronic devices, however, are generally cumbersome and inefficient. For example, composing or preparing a response to a message requires navigating a complex and time-consuming user interface, which may include multiple key presses or keystrokes. Existing techniques require longer than necessary, wasting user time and device energy. This latter consideration is particularly important in battery-operated devices. Accordingly, there is a need for electronic devices with faster, more efficient methods and interfaces for receiving user input. Such methods and interfaces optionally complement or replace conventional methods for receiving user input. Such methods and interfaces reduce the cognitive burden on a user and produce a more efficient human-machine interface. For battery-operated computing devices, such methods and interfaces conserve power and increase the time between battery charges. The above deficiencies and other problems associated with user interfaces for computing devices for receiving user input are reduced or eliminated by the disclosed devices.
