    Abstract: Catalyst, in particular for the dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons to give olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbons, which essentially comprises in the sintered, ready-to-use state a) 60 to 95% by weight of at least one iron compound, calculated as Fe2O3; b) 1 to 25% by weight of at least one potassium compound, calculated as K2O; c) 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one compound of chromium or of aluminium, calculated as Cr2O3 or Al2O3; d) 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one compound of molybdenum or tungsten, calculated as MoO3 or WO3; e) 0.1 to 2.5% by weight of a vanadium compound, calculated as V2O5; f) 0.1 to 5% by weight of a lithium compound, calculated as Li2O; and conventional contaminants and production-related residues, as is obtained when a mixture of either Fe2O3 or FeOOH or a mixture of Fe2O3 and FeOOH and the subsidiary constituents in the form of their compounds is moulded, dried if appropriate at below 160@C and calcined at 200 to 1000@C, the atomic ratio of vanadium to molybdenum or tungsten being 1 to 2.5 and when Fe2O3 is used as starting material in production, the content of vanadium being selected in such a way that in the finished catalyst it is 0.5 to 2% by weight, when FeOOH is used as starting material it is 0.5 to 2.5% by weight and when a mixture of Fe2O3 and FeOOH is used it is no more than 1.5% by weight, in such a manner that when ...
