Abstract: The invention relates to a method for continuously producing hydroxyammonium salts by catalytically reducing nitrogen monoxide with hydrogen in a diluted aqueous solution of mineral acid in a plurality of series-connected reaction stages. The inventive method is characterized in that the inflow of the diluted aqueous solution of mineral acid is split into at least two partial streams prior to being supplied to the plurality of series-connected reaction stages. A first partial stream is supplied to the first reaction stage. A second partial stream is supplied to a reaction stage other than the first reaction stage, whereby the inflow of diluted aqueous solution of mineral acid into the plurality of series-connected reaction stages is controlled by the pH value of the reaction stage that is not the first reaction stage. 5 claims
