Abstract: According to the parent patent conc. stable aq. dispersions contain (A) 40-60 wt. % dispersion or vat dye, and (B) a dispersing agent made by condnsn. of phenol, formaldehyde or formaldehyole-donor, and Na2SO3 or NaHSO3 in molar ratio 1:1-4:0.3-1.6, in presence of 0.05-0.5 mol. NaOH per mol. phenol, in aq. medium with concns. time of 1-8 h. In this specification in place of (B) is used a lignin sulphonate contg. 0.5-0.2 SO3H gps. per phenylpropane unit and with mol. wt. of 5000-40,000.

Abstract: The modification (I) of the dyestuff of formula: has an x-ray diffraction diagram showing lines of strong intensity at 9.1 and 25.5 degrees, of medium intensity at 16.1, 17.1, 17.9, 20.1, 20.8, and 27.1 degrees and of weak intensity at 4.8, 11.2, 14.4 and 23.7 degrees at a diffraction angle of 2 H. (I) is dispersion-stable, unlike the alpha-modification (II), and does not flocculate out of aq. medium after prolonged exposure to high temp. It is prepd. by heating (II), opt. in water and/or water-sol. org. solvent.

Abstract: Highly conc. powdery dispersion- and vat dye compsns. contain, by wt., (a) 50-80 (60-70)% of >=1 finely dispersed dispersion- or vat dyes, and (b) 20-50 (30-40)% condensn. prod. as dispersant. Dispersant is prepd. by re-condensn. of (i) a condensate (I), which is prepd. by condensing phenolsulphonic acids, free from condensed ring systems, with urea and HCHO or HCHO-yielding matls., in mol. ratio 1:1-1.5:1.7-2.2, with (ii) a condensate (II) prepd. from phenol and HCHO, in mol. ratio 1:1, in a strongly alkaline medium. Re-condensn. takes place in a strongly acid medium. Before re-condensn. with (I), (II) is left to react 1-2 hrs. at pH 2-4. Compsns. dye textiles in pure colour shades, including bright yellow to orange. Condensate does not colour or soil textile fibres. Bright effects are obtd. when using optical brighteners. Even sensitive dyes can be dispersed at higher temps., e.g. 60-90 degrees C, to form stable dispersions. Dispersions can take place at pH 4-7 without increasing viscosity. Dispersion velocity achieved is higher than with standard dispersants. In an example, dispersant prepn. (I) was pred. from 94 pts. sulphonated phenol, 60 pts. urea and 190 pts. 30% HCHO. (II) was prepd. from 47 pts. phenol and 50 pts. 30% HCHO.

Abstract: beta-Modifn. of the monoazo dispersion dye of formula: having a given X-ray diffraction diagram, uses CuKalpha radiation which possesses 1 line of strong intensity at 8.3 degrees, lines of medium intensity at 22.2 degrees, 22.9 degrees, 23.4 degrees, 24.6 degrees, 25.2 degrees, 26.2 degrees, and 13.8 degrees, and lines of low intensity at 9.4 degrees, 10.9 degrees, 11.3 degrees 12.6 degrees, 16.4 degrees, 16.7 degrees, 17.6 degrees, 19.0 degrees and 27.6 degrees. The known alpha-modifn. is heated in water at 100-150 degrees C, opt. in presence of a dispersing agent or water-soluble solvent, e.g. 20 parts alpha-modifcn. 2 parts dispersing agent and 78 parts water are stirred in an autoclave for 12 h. at 125 degrees C and pH 7. The dyes are used for dyeing of synthetic polyester textiles, esp. in wound yarn form. The beta-modifcn. is stable at high dyeing temps. of 80-200 degrees C of which the known form is unstable and deposits on the yarn.

Abstract: The modified dye mixt. of formula: (in which R is 190% of H and 10% methoxy) is used for dyeing synthetic, linear polyesters eg. polyethylene glycol terephthalate, esp. in the form of wound yarns. Stability of the dye at dyeing temps. of 100-140 degrees C is improved. Dye agglomeration, flocculation and deposition on the outside of the yarn is spools is prevented. The dye mixt. is modified by heating for up to 18 hrs at 105-180 degrees C.

Abstract: Powdered, highly concentrated and stably dispersible dye formulations which are substantially devoid of dye agglomerates, which contain dyes which are not soluble in water such as disperse dyes or vat dyes, anionactive dispersing agents and (as stabilizing agent) from 2 to 30% by weight based on the dye of a polyethylene oxide having a molecular weight of from 200 to 1000 or a reaction product which has been obtained from A. C6 to C20 fatty alcohols; B. ALKYLPHENOLS OF C4 to C12 in the alkyl; C. C14 to C20 fatty amines; D. CASTOR OIL OR HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL; E. C14 to C20 fatty acids; or F. NATURAL RESIN ACIDS WITH FROM 2 TO 80 MOLES OF ETHYLENE OXIDE PER MOLE OF OH or NH2 groups; or from ALKYLENEDIAMINES OF TWO TO FIVE CARBON ATOMS WITH FROM 25 TO 120 MOLES OF PROPYLENE OXIDE AND ETHYLENE OXIDE PER MOLE OF NH2 groups. The formulations are stable in storage at 60 DEG C and remain devoid of dye agglomerates.

Abstract: Highly concentrated, dust-free, solid and readily dispersible pigment formulations contain (a) from 70 to 95% by weight of one or more finely divided pigments, (b) from 5 to 30% by weight of one or more surfactants which possess 20-45% by weight of ethylene oxide units, have a mean molecular weight of from 4,000 to 15,000 and are obtained by reacting an amine of the formula where R is C2-C6-alkylene, R1 is H or C1-C4-alkyl and n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, or R is 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene or 4,4'-diphenylenemethane, R1 is H and n is 1, with propylene oxide and then reacting the product with ethylene oxide, and (c) from 0 to 5% by weight of waxes and/or antifoams, with or without (d) other agents conventionally used in pigment formulations, the percentages being based on (a+b+c). The formulations are very useful for pigmenting aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous/alcoholic printing inks and surface coatings, and printing pastes for textiles.
