    Abstract: Readily dispersible formulations comprising (a) finely divided copper phthalocyanine and (b) an iron hexacyanoferrate-III pigment are obtained by thoroughly milling a mixture of (a) and (b). The performance characteristics and tinctorial properties of the formulations comprising (a) and (b) can be improved by incorporating (c) a Mannich condensate obtained from 2-hydroxynaphthalene which may or may not possess 1 or 2 further beta -OH groups, formaldehyde and a primary or secondary amine, (d) a compound of the formula K(-NH-CONH-R)2, where K is 1,5-naphthylene or 4,4'-diphenylenemethane and R is C12-C18-alkyl, C12-C18-alkenyl, C8-C18-alkoxypropyl or C2-C8-alkoxyethyleneoxypropyl, (e) a C6-C18-alkylbenzenesulfonic acid and (f) a mixture of (e) with a basic copper phthalocyanine and/or a salt obtained by reacting (e) with the basic copper phthalocyanine. The finishes and printing inks produced using the formulations have tinctorial properties and performance characteristics which are superior to those of finishes and inks obtained by mixing individually milled or dispersed components.

    Abstract: A phthalocyanine formulation which is stabilized against recrystallization and change of modification and which contains, as the stabilizer (a) a finely divided phthalocyanine as the pigment and (b) a salt or the corresponding homogeneous mixture of ( alpha ) a phthalocyanine derivative, which carries basic groups (R1 = H, alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted phenyl, -C2H4-NH)zH or -(C3H6-NH)zH, z = 1, 2 or 3, and R2 = H, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl of 6 to 8 carbon atoms) and ( beta ) an aliphatic sulfonic acid of 8 to 20 carbon atoms, a monoalkylbenzenesulfonic acid or dialkylbenzenesulfonic acid where alkyl is of 6 to 20 carbon atoms, or a monoalkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid or dialkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid where alkyl is of 6 to 20 carbon atoms, which acids may be substituted by hydroxyl, the molar ratio of alpha : beta being from 1:1 to 1:5, and, if desired, one or more organic fluids or solutions of resins in these fluids. The formulations are stable even in aromatic hydrocarbons and produce pure, deep colorations which have high gloss.

    Abstract: Highly concentrated, dust-free, solid and readily dispersible pigment formulations contain (a) from 70 to 95% by weight of one or more finely divided pigments, (b) from 5 to 30% by weight of one or more surfactants which possess 20-45% by weight of ethylene oxide units, have a mean molecular weight of from 4,000 to 15,000 and are obtained by reacting an amine of the formula where R is C2-C6-alkylene, R1 is H or C1-C4-alkyl and n is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, or R is 1,3-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene or 4,4'-diphenylenemethane, R1 is H and n is 1, with propylene oxide and then reacting the product with ethylene oxide, and (c) from 0 to 5% by weight of waxes and/or antifoams, with or without (d) other agents conventionally used in pigment formulations, the percentages being based on (a+b+c). The formulations are very useful for pigmenting aqueous, alcoholic or aqueous/alcoholic printing inks and surface coatings, and printing pastes for textiles.

    Abstract: Copolymers, having a uniform structure, of cyclic dienes are obtained by heating a mixture of from 35 to 96% by weight of cyclopentadiene, dicyclopentadiene and/or methyldicyclopentadiene, which may or may not be partially replaced by methylcyclopentadiene or tricyclopentadiene or methyltricyclopentadiene, from 1 to 30% by weight of maleic anhydride, maleic acid or a monoalkyl maleate, which maleic acid or maleic acid derivatives may be partially replaced by other alpha , beta -olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids or dicarboxylic acids of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, and from 3 to 45% by weight of one or more vinyl-aromatics to 230 DEG -320 DEG C, during which heating the mixture does not remain at from 30 DEG to 230 DEG C for more than 5 hours, and preferably for not more than 2 hours. The copolymers may be used as binders for printing inks and coatings, and as additives in adhesives.

    Abstract: A print paste contains as the binder and as the colouring agent a film-forming copolymer of: (a) at least one dye which bears a polymerisable group; (b) at least one ester of a polymerizable carboxylic acid; and (c) at least one polymerizable hydrocarbon. At least one other comonomer may be included. Component (a) may be replaced by (c) at least one comonomer having a reactive group and (f) at least one dye having a group complementary to the reactive group in (e). Suitable dyes (a) include particularly those of the azo and anthraquinone series, but may also include, for example triphenylmethane dyes. The polymerizable groups are preferably acrylic, acryloylamino, acryloyloxyalkyl, acryloyloxyaryl and vinyl groups. In Example I a coloured copolymer I is prepared by copolymerization of a dye of formula methyl methacrylate, styrene and the butyl ether of methylolmethacrylamide in methyl ethyl ketone with azodiisobutyronitrile as catalyst. Copolymer II is prepared by solution polymerization of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and acrylic acid under the same conditions. A print paste is then prepared by dissolving copolymers I and II in methyl ethyl ketone. In Example II a dye of formula acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate, styrene and itaconic acid are copolymerized in M.E.K. in the presence of azodiisobutyronitrile and a print paste prepared by dissolving this in M.E.K.ALSO:A print paste contains as binder and colouring agent a film forming copolymer of (a) at least one dye which bears a polymerisable group; (b) at least one ester of a polymerisable carboxylic acid and (c) at least one polymerisable hydrocarbon.     Abstract: Highly concentrated, low-dust preparations of disperse dyes containing a) at least one finely divided disperse dye, b) at least one surface-active agent obtained by reaction of amines of the formula H2N-(R-N)-H, in which R denotes C2- to C6-alkylene or phenylene, R denotes H or R denotes C1- to C4-alkyl and n denotes 1 to 5, with propylene oxide and then with ethylene oxide, the EO proportion being 20 to 60 % by weight and the reaction product having an average molecular weight of 4000 to 25000, c) if appropriate, a dispersant containing sulpho groups and d) if appropriate, further agents customary in such preparations. The preparations can be used for the dyeing and printing of PES and PES-containing blend fabrics.
