Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de plásticos celulares elásticos de poliuretano hidrófilos y protegidos contra la llama mediante reacción de poliisocianatos orgánicos y/o modificados orgánicos (a) con una mezcla de poliéteroles (b) y, en caso dado, otros compuestos (c), que muestran átomos de hidrógeno reactivos frente a isocianatos en presencia de agua y/u otros propulsantes (d), catalizadores (e), estabilizantes (f), agentes protectores contra la llama (g) y, en caso dado, otros agentes auxiliares y aditivos (h), caracterizado porque se emplea la mezcla de poliéteroles (b), constituida por b1) al menos un poliéterol con una funcionalidad de dos hasta ocho a base de óxido de propileno y/u óxido de butileno y óxido de etileno, ascendiendo el porcentaje de óxido de etileno, referido a la totalidad de la cantidad empleada de óxido de alquileno, a más de un 40 % en peso, con un índice de OH de 20 hasta 800 mg de KOH/g y un porcentaje de grupos de OH primarios mayor de un 50 %, con la condición de que b1) contiene al menos un poliéterol al menos difuncional b1.1) con un índice de OH de 20 hasta 100 mg de KOH/G, y b2) al menos un poliéterol a base de óxido de propileno y/u óxido de butileno con un índice de OH mayor de 30 mg de KOH/g y como agente protector contra la llama (g) melamina, en caso dado, en mezcla con otros agentes protectores contra la llama.

Abstract: Fireproof flexible polyurethane foam is made from a mixture of polyether-ol(s) with an OH number (OHN) of 20-80 and a primary OH group content (OHC) of more than 70%, based on 2-4C alkylene oxides with an ethylene oxide content of less than 25 wt.%, and similar compound(s) with an OHN of more than 30 and an OHC of less than 70%, using melamine as fire retardant. A method for the production of fire-resistant, flexible polyurethane foam by reacting optionally modified polyisocyanates (a) with a polyether-ol mixture (b) and optionally other isocyanate-reactive compounds (c) in presence of water and/or other blowing agents (d), catalysts (e), stabilisers (f), fire retardants (g) and optionally other additives etc. (h). In this method, component (b) comprises (b1) at least difunctional polyether-ol(s) with an OH number of 20-80 mg KOH/g and a prim. OH group content of more than 70%, based on propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide and ethylene oxide (EO), with an EO content of less than 25 wt% based on total alkylene oxide and (b2) polyether-ol(s) based on the same components as in (b1), with an OH number of more than 30 and a prim. OH content of less than 70%, and component (g) comprises melamine, optionally with other fire retardants. An Independent claim is also included for flexible polyurethane foam obtained by this method.

Abstract: Polyurethane flexible foam having latex like properties is prepared by reaction of organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates with a polyetherol mixture containing at least 50 wt.% 2-8C functional polyetherol based on propylene oxide, butylene oxide and/or ethylene oxide, whereby the ethylene oxide content is greater than 40 wt.% Polyurethane flexible foam (I) having latex like properties is prepared by reaction of: (A) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates; with (B) a polyetherol mixture; and optionally (C) other isocyanate reactive compounds in the presence of; (D) water and/or other propellants; (E) catalysts; and optionally (F) other processing aids and additives. (B) comprises (B1) a 2-8C functional polyetherol based on propylene oxide, butylene oxide and/or ethylene oxide, whereby the ethylene oxide content is greater than 40 wt.% (w.r.t. total alkylene oxide), with an OH-number of 20-80 mg KOH/g and a primary OH group content of greater than 50%, (B2) a 2-6 functional polyetherol based on propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide having an OH number of less than 140 mg KOH/g and (B3) at least one further polyetherol based on ethylene oxide and propylene oxide having a primary OH group content of greater than 25%. (B) contains at least 50 wt.% (B1).

Abstract: A process for preparing a homogeneous polyol component which is stable to separation and consists of at least one compound of relatively high molecular weight having at least two reactive hydrogen atoms and low-molecular-weight chain extenders and/or crosslinkers and, if desired, of blowing agents, catalysts and other auxiliaries and/or additives comprises the addition to this component of at least one amine and at least one organic and/or modified organic isocyanate; the invention also provides the corresponding polyol component which is stable to separation. Abstract: A process for the production of stable dispersions (I) of melamine in polyol components comprising high-mol. wt. compound(s) with at least two reactive hydrogens and optionally low-mol. wt. chain extenders/crosslinkers, blowing agents, catalysts, fire retardants and other additives etc.. In this process, melamine is used as fire retardant in combination with amine(s) (II) and unmodified and/or modified organic isocyanate(s) (III). Also claimed is a process for the production of fireproofed polyurethane (PU) foam, by reacting isocyanates as above with other components as above, using melamine dispersions (I) as fire retardant. Preferably the process comprises adding melamine as fire retardant, followed by amines (II) and then isocyanates (III). The polyol component contains 1-50 wt% melamine, preferably with a particle size of 1-100 microns. (II) comprise prim. and/or sec. aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic amines, and (III) comprise aromatic isocyanates or prepolymers with NCO groups, each in amounts of 0.05-5 wt% based on the polyol component.
