[Also in Division F4] In a thermally controlled condensate discharger which discharges condensate from steam systems against pressures higher than atmospheric, a dividing member 3 is positioned between the first and second chambers 4, 5, respective chambers containing a number of bimetallic plates 16, 21 forming upper and lower control packs which exert closing and opening forces on a valve head 24 which has a seating 25 in member 3. Upper and lower screwthreaded valve stems pass through the respective packs and respective discs 17, 22. In operation, condensate flows through inlet passage 7 into chamber 4, through passage 26 in member 3, around valve head 24 and exits through passage 27 in member 3, chamber 5 and passage 9. The pressure drop between chamber 4 and 5 causes vaporization of some of the condensate and a lowering of condensate temperature. The vapour and condensate discharged from passage 9 are separated and the condensate may be passed through further dischargers.
