Abstract: Production of a spinel monolith catalyst comprises forming or coating a molded body, especially a monolith with a surface active composition; impregnating the monolith with a solution of a compound of group 5b elements in the form of oxides or salts; and drying and optionally calcining. Production of a spinel monolith catalyst comprises forming or coating a molded body, especially a monolith with a surface active composition of formula: AxB(1-x)E2O4 (where: A = copper, half of which can be replaced by cobalt, iron, nickel manganese or chromium; B = zinc, magnesium, calcium, zirconium, cerium, tin, titanium, vanadium, molybdenum or tungsten; E = aluminum, half of which can be replaced by Fe2O3, Cr2O3, Ga2O3 or La2O3; and x = 0-0.9); impregnating the monolith with a solution of a compound of group 5b elements in the form of oxides or salts; and drying and optionally calcining.

Abstract: A storage catalyst includes (1) a component that has a catalytic reducing action for nitrogen oxides at least in the presence of hydrocarbons, and (2) a component that stores NOx at least at temperatures of below 100° C. The catalytically active component is of the general chemical formula AaBbO4, where A is one or more divalent metals and B is one or more trivalent metals, and where a+b 0. The reaction enthalpy or the chemical activity between the catalytically active component and the NOx-storing component is low at least up to temperatures of 600° C.

Abstract: Spinel extrudates are produced using a molding composition containing aluminum oxides, aluminum oxide hydrates and metal nitrates. Spinel extrudates are produced by extruding molding composition containing spinel powder and optionally extruding auxiliary aid, stabilizer, shrinkage reducer, and/or pore former. An Independent claim is also included for a honeycomb body obtained by drying the extrudates at 10-200o C, or by freeze drying -40-0o C under a pressure of 0.05-0.8 bar and calcining at 500-900o C.
