    Abstract: Melamine is prepared by the thermal cracking of urea at 350 DEG to 550 DEG C. in a first stage and subsequent reaction of the cracked gas at 330 DEG to 450 DEG C. in the presence of a catalyst in a second stage, in which the urea starting material is vaporized in the first stage from a finely divided form by direct heat exchange with cracked gas from the first stage or off-gas from the second stage which has been freed from melamine and both of which have been heated up to a temperature of 350 DEG to 550 DEG C.

    Abstract: The invention comprises complex metal aluminium hydrides of formula M[ALH2R (OR1)]n where in M represents lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium or calcium, R and R1 each represent a hydrocarbon radical and n is the valency of M. R may be C1-C6 alkyl or a cycloalkyl radical and R1 may be C1-C20 alkyl or a cycloalkyl or aryl radical. They may be prepared by adding a hydride of lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium or calcium to a compound of formula ACXR(OR1) in which X represents chlorine or bromine and R and R1 are as above. Reaction may be carried out in the presence of an ether or hydrocarbon using a trace of the compound to be prepared as reaction initiator. Specifications 804,059 and 858,498 are referred to.
