Abstract: The present invention relates to new azine compounds which are useful combating animal pests, in particular insects and nematodes and to the salts thereof. The invention also relates to a method for combating insects, nematodes and arachnids. The azine compounds of the invention are described by the general formula (I) wherein . . . is absent or a covalent bond; n is 0 or 1, in particular 0; A is an optionally substituted cyclic radical selected from phenyl and a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical with 1, 2, 3, or 4 heteroatoms; Ar is an optionally substituted aromatic radical selected from phenyl, pyridyl, pyrimidyl, furyl and thienyl, x is selected from halogen, OR 7 , SR 7 , SOR 7 , SO 2 R 7 , C 1 -C 4 -alkyl and C 1 -C 4 -haloalkyl; and wherein R 1 to R 4 and R 7 are as described in the claims and the specification.
