    Abstract: 1-Aryl-pyrazoles of the general formula in which Hal represents halogen, R1 and R3 independently of one another represent cyano, nitro, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkoxy or a radical -S(O)n-R6 and R2, R4 and R5 independently of one another and independently of R1 and R3 represent the same radicals as R1 and R3, and additionally represent hydrogen, and wherein R6 represents alkyl, halogenoalkyl, amino, alkylamino or dialkylamino and n-represents the number 0, 1 or 2 are disclosed. These compounds can be nitrated to form herbicially effective 1-aryl-4-nitropyrazoles.

    Abstract: A 5-sulphonamido-1-aryl-pyrazole of the formula (I) (I) in which R1 represents hydrogen, nitro, nitroso or halogen, R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl or a radical R3-SO2-, or an inorganic or organic cation bonded in the form of a salt, R3 represents alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, halogeno-alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted aryl, R4 and R6 independently of one another represent cyano, nitro, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkoxy or a radical -(O)n-R9 and R5, R7 and R8 independently of one another and of R4 and R6 represent the same radicals as R4 and R6, and additionally represent hydrogen, wherein R9 represents alkyl, halogenoalkyl, amino, alkyl-amino or dialkylamino and n represents the number 0, 1 or 2. Such 5-sulphonamido-1-aryl-pyrazole being useful as a herbicide.

    Abstract: Herbicidally active 5-amino-1-phenylpyrazoles of the formula in which R is CN, or an ester or amido group, R1 is an organic radical, R2 is an organic radical, hydrogen or an acyl or thioacyl radical, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 can be hydrogen or various organic radicals but at least one is a haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, haloalkylthio, haloalkylsulphinyl or haloalkylsulphonyl radical, but R is not CN at the same time as R5 is CF3. The compounds are intermediates therefor and are also herbicidal.
