In the extrusion molding process, a metal wire 2 is extruded to be mounted on the outer periphery of the elastic material 1 through the extrusion head 11 and, in the vulcanizing process, the metal wire 1 is taken up after the elastic material 1 is vulcanized by producing heat from the metal wire 2 by electromagnetic induction heating.

Together with them, a projecting part is formed so that a sectional shape may be a projecting line shape in which R is 0.05 to 0.7 mm. For instance, a core body is set within a metallic mold in which a recessed line part of a desired shape is provided on the inside surface, an elastic body layer forming material is injected and an elastic body layer having the projecting line part of a desired shape on the surface is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the core body. Alternatively an annular elastic body having the projecting line part of a desired shape on the surface is manufactured by an extrusion molding and the elastic body is mounted on the core body.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and simply change surface condition of a roller only on arbitrary parts by heat-compressing a part of an elastic layer consisting of a foamed body to perform compression permanent deformation thereof and making thereby the number of cells of the part of the elastic layer larger than that before heat-compression. SOLUTION: In a roller with an elastic layer consisting of a foamed body, surface condition of the roller, especially the number of cells of a part of the elastic layer can be inexpensively and simply made larger than that before heat-compression by heat-compressing the part of the elastic layer. A base body of a paper feeding roller is constituted by covering the outer periphery of a shaft 2 with an elastic layer 3. As the elastic layer 3, a flexible urethane foam with the number of cells of 65 and whose cell film is an open-cell foam processed by an explosion method is used. The number of cells of the surfaces of recessed parts 40 of the elastic layer 3 of the paper feeding roller 1 obtd. after heating is approximately two-fold of the number of cells of the elastic layer before heat-compression and there exists no possibility of returning this deformation back to its original condition.
