Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain low hardness, and reduce contamination to paper sheets by setting tackiness in a surface of a paper feeding member using thermoplastic elastomer to a specific value. SOLUTION: A paper feeding member is used for at least one or more of a pickup roller 2, a feed roller 3 and a reverse roller 4, and an elastic layer 5 is formed of thermoplastic elastomer. When tackiness in a surface of the thermoplastic elastomer is set not more than 30g, preferably, not more than 20g, contamination to paper sheets 1 can be reduced while maintaining a constant friction coefficient. The thermoplastic elastomer is composed mainly of a high polymer organic material and a softening agent, and for example, a thermoplastic high polymer material having number average molecular weight not less than 20,000 is used as the high polymer organic material, and a low molecular weight material having number average molecular weight less than 20,000 is used as the softening agent. A blending amount of the softening agent is adjusted, and JIS-A hardness is set not more than 60 deg.. Therefore, low hardness is attained, and contamination to the paper sheets 1 such as paper, a film or photographic printing paper can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a substance which will not contaminate the photosensitive body or paper sheet so as to improve reliability by impregnating polyurethane foam for roller, suited to a roller brought into contact with the photosensitive body of a copying machine, with solvent solution which contains resin of concentration less than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:In a roller which is formed of polyurethane foam, a transferrable substance such as unreacted monomer of polyurethane foam or other unreacted additives like oligomer tends to be transferred to a photosensitive body and contaminate the photosensitive body or paper sheet. In order to solve this problem, impregnating treatment is conducted on polyurethane foam for roller with solvent solution which contains resin of 5weight% or less. Besides, the polyurethane foam before impregnating treated is provided with 10 -10 OMEGA conductivity as a resistance value between two points, thermoplastic polyurethane is used as the resin and prepared so that the viscosity of the solvent solution may become 7.5cPs or less at 25 deg.C. It is thus possible to prevent contamination without degrading characteristics such as conductivity which is originally provided in the polyurethane foam.

Obtained foamed body is pressed into mold 4 having an air vent opening 5 and let it cure. Thus produced roll consists of a cylindrical body 2 with the cured foamed body formed around a shaft 1 and a self film, i.e., a thin skin 2A formed on the surface, and forming of the foamed body keeping low density is easy because a coating film 3 is formed at the outermost layer.
