Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an air bag excellent in the protection of a passenger and at a low manufacturing cost due to a simplified production process, by forming the air bag of a film-like bag body of which elongation at the time of its breakage is over a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An air bag is formed of a film-like bag body of which the elongation at the time of its breakage is over 100%. Because it is constituted of a material having good elasticity with its breakage elongation of over 100%, even when the bag hets the face of a passenger at the time of its expanding, the passenger is not injured. Further, since the air bag itself has elasticity so that variation of its internal pressure is compatively slow, a passenger, for example, in a driver's seat, can be protected under the eptimal condition irrespective of his body form and a distance between the passenger and the steering where the air bag module is provided at the time of a collision. The freedom in the air bag design can thus be large.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an air bag of excellent function of protecting a passenger, which is light, compact and can be produced at low cost by forming a seat for air bag out of elastomer, and by extending it into a bag shape through the gas generated from an inflator, and whereby expanding it. CONSTITUTION:A seat made of elastomer is extended into an aimed air bag shape by the gas generated from an inflator, and is thus expanded. For example, when plural ribs 1b are formed in a concentric manner, on one surface of a circular seat main body 1a, since a high density part A of the rib 1b is hard to expand, while a low density part B is easily expanded, the seat is extended into the air bag shape as seen in the drawing, and is thus expanded, by the gas pressure generated from the inflator at the time of actuating the air bag. Thanks to the seat for air bag, an air bag can be obtained, which has good function of protecting passenger, has good developing, storing characteristics, and is sufficiently light-weighted, while a degree of freedom of designing is large, and the air bag is manufactured easily at low cost.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve productivity by forming a groove or a projection and molding a seamless tube when a thermoplastic elastomer is extruded from an extruder, cutting the tube in round slices and manufacturing a conveyor belt. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic elastomer is extruded tubularly through a die body 2 and a die mouthpiece 3 from an extruder 1, and passed through a sizing plate 4, thus molding a seamless tube 5. When a groove or a projection is shaped to either one of a die mouthpiece lip 6 or a mandrel 7 for the die body 2, the thermoplastic elastomer passed through a land section 8 and extruded is changed into the seamless tube 5 with the projection or the groove. The seamless tube 5 is cut in round slices in required length, thus manufacturing a belt. When the belt is turned over and inverted as necessary, the conveyor belt, the surface of which has the projection, is prepared.

By using an extrusion molding method, productivity is increased compared with a conventional prod, and since, by selecting a mixing processing method, a given friction factor is provided, after-processing, e.g. emboss processing, buff processing, is eliminated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such an air bag as being prevented from its burst, rupture, or the like even when impact force is applied by composing a laminated film of at least one layer of elastomer and one layer of shape holding material. SOLUTION: This air bag 1 is formed in such a way that a circular obverse laminated films 2 and circular reverse laminated films 3 are mutually airtightly joined together on their peripheral parts and an opening 5 is provided on the reverse laminated film 3. Hereat, respective obverse and reverse laminated film 2, 3 are formed of a laminate body composed of one each elastomer layer 2a, 3a for which, for instance, thermoplastic elastomer in urethane or the like is used and one each shape holding layer 2b, 3b for which thermoplastic elastomer like polycarbonate or the like. In the case of the obverse laminated film 2, if an elastomer layer 2a having softer characteristics is positioned on the outer surface side, performance for protecting an occupant is enhanced, while if elastomer layer 2a, 3a are both positioned inner surface side to provide connection of the laminate films 2 to the laminate films 3, the junction strength is enhanced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an inflater, an air bag and a module cover to be attached and fixed together by means of a reduced number of parts by deforming a part of an inflater flange for fixing the base end part of an air bag in a preset configuration so as to fix the leg part of the module cover. SOLUTION: The basic end part of an air bag 1 is fixed to an inflater flange 2A by means of a ring-like retainer 3, and also the outer peripheral side of the inflater flange 2A is folded and bent in the direction opposite to the side of crews so as to allow an erection wall 2B to stand up. Then, retainer plates 6 are set from the outside in such a manner as pinching the leg part 4A of a module cover 4 set attached thereto and the module cover 4 is fixed to the inflater flange 2A by means of fixing tool such as rivets 5. Thereby, the inflater 2 itself contributes to compose attachment tools to the vehicle body side of the air bag device, and thus the conventional base plate can be no more required.

In this case, the joining of the above reinforcing bodies 8, 9 to the back cloth is carried out by the thermal deposition (13A-13D) such as high frequency deposition.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To realize the molding where the filler is uniformly dispersed in a module cover by injecting the kneaded material of the measured thermoplastic material and the filler into a mold after the melting/kneading and the measurement are made in a heated cylinder. CONSTITUTION: In an injection molding machine 1, the thermoplastic material is fed from a first material feeding part 4 provided at the rear part of an injection molding equipment 2, and the filler is fed from a second material feeding part 7 provided approximately at the center of the injection molding equipment 2. In addition, in the melting/kneading and measurement process of the injection molding, a screw 10 of the injection molding equipment 2 is rotated to transfer the kneaded material to a measuring part 11 at the tip of a heated cylinder 3 while the material is melted and kneaded. In the process to measure the prescribed amount, the feeding of the thermoplastic material and the filler of the following one shot is simultaneously started, and the respective materials are fed at the specified speed so that the ratio of mixture of these materials may be constant, and the feeding is simultaneously completed.

CONSTITUTION:In the assembly method for an air bag device where a fastening section 6 composed by partially bending a base plate 8 to which an air bag 14 and a gas generator are attached is sandwichedly fixed to the leg part of a pad cover 7 to accommodate at least the air bag 14 for protecting occupants in the case of a collision and the gas generator for expanding the air bag 14, the pad cover 7 is arranged around the air bag device as a work. One or plural fastening sections of the base plate 8 fixed to the leg part of the pad cover 7 are therefore simultaneously deformed and fixed by a cam slide device 2 to convert vertical pressing force into horizontal fastening force.
