Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the compatibility of a monomer with a polymer binder and flexibility or elasticity by incorporating a specified water-soluble copolymer and a polymerizable ethylenically unsatd. compd. CONSTITUTION: A middle layer is formed on a substrate and a photopolymerizable relief forming layer contg. a mixture of a polymer binder with a polymerizable ethylenically unsatd. compd., a photopolymn. initiator and a thermal polymn. inhibitor is formed on the middle layer. The polymer binder is a water-soluble copolymer or deriv. of PVA and the unsatd. compd. is a compd. represented by formula I, wherein R is H, 1-10C alkyl or 6-10C aryl, R is H or methyl, X is -(CH2 -CH2 -O)n CH-, -C2 H4 , etc., and (n) is 0-8. The compatibility of the monomer with the polymer binder, water developability and flexibility can be improved.
