    Abstract: The portable cord-like device has a basic structure including a first magnetic film 11 for forming a magnetic bubble and a second 12 for imparting a biased magnetic field to the first to stably hold the magnetic bubble. A transfer pattern (14 Fig 2B) allows bubble transfer. An alignment pattern (Fig 6) allows for aligning the device with a light beam thereby permitting accurate optical writing, and erasure. The peripheral edge portion of a transfer passage has a surface inclined with respect to the substrate surface. Transfer passages are constituted as intersecting sets (Figs 5, 21, 22).
