Abstract:
An oral composition exhibiting increased uptake by dental tissue of antibacterial compounds contained therein and eliminating or substantially reducing the discomfort and pain associated with dentinal hypersensitivity. The composition includes an orally acceptable vehicle for such composition, an effective therapeutic amount of an antibacterial compound, a mixture of anionic surfactant and amphoteric surfactant, the mixture having 0.1 wt. % to 2.0 wt. % anionic surfactant and 0.8 wt. % to 2.0 wt. % amphoteric surfactant, and a potassium ion releasable compound.
Abstract:
The invention includes methods of cleaning an oral surface, maintaining oral health and/or increasing oral health. Such methods encompass contacting an oral surface with a primary oral care composition at least once daily, contacting the oral surface with a periodic oral care maintenance composition at least once monthly, wherein the periodic oral care maintenance composition comprises a basic amino acid, in free or salt form and optionally contacting the oral surface with a periodic oral care cleaning composition at least once monthly. The periodic oral care cleaning compositions suitable for use in the method comprise an abrasive system.
Abstract:
The invention provides an antiplaque oral composition containing an orally acceptable carrier and an antibacterial effective amount of compound (I). In the structure, R 1 and R 2 are independently a hydrogen atom or a lower C 1-4 alkyl group and R 3 and R 4 are independently an alkenyl or alkyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R 3 and R 4 are not both 2-propenyl or n-propyl when R 1 and R 2 are both hydrogen atoms. Also included are oral compositions containing the compound (I).
Abstract:
A method for whitening a dental surface comprises nonsimultaneously applying a whitening composition to the surface, the whitening composition comprising at least one orally acceptable peroxy compound, and directing a volume of up to about 2.5 ml of an atomized activating composition on to the surface, wherein the activating composition comprises, in the volume so directed, a peroxy compound activating effective amount of at least one orally acceptable basifying agent, and wherein applying the whitening composition and directing the activating composition are separated by an interval not greater than a peroxy compound activating effective interval. The atomized composition can be directed on to the dental surface before or after application of the whitening composition.

Disclosed herein are zinc-amino acid-tripolyphosphate complexes, oral care and personal care compositions comprising zinc-amino acid-tripolyphosphate complexes, and methods of making and using the same.
Abstract:
Antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions and methods for the same are provided. The compositions may include an antiperspirant active or a deodorant active, water, and a preservative system. The antiperspirant active may include aluminum, and the preservative system may include a biodegradable amino carboxylate. The methods may include substituting or replacing a conventional chelant, such as EDTA, with a biodegradable chelant, such as HIDS. The methods may also include applying one of the compositions to an axillary area of a person.
