Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for image receiving layer required for forming a sharp image by thermal transfer system or ink jet recording system. SOLUTION: An image layer is formed by coating at least one side of a basic material with an aqueous resin composition composed of a polymer of monomer components containing 0.5-50 wt.% of polymeric unsaturated monomer having a hydrolytic silyl group. An anionic polymer may also be employed and it is normally in the form of aqueous polymer emulsion. The aqueous resin composition may contain a hydrophilic polymer. The image receiving layer of an image receiver for image recording can be formed as a single layer. The aqueous resin composition may be an aqueous polymer emulsion composed of a polymer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-purity oxide thin film at a low temperature by adding a complexing agent capable of altering light absorption wavelength to a starting material followed by irradiating the material with rays of light in making such thin film through sol-gel process. CONSTITUTION:As starting material for sol-gel process, e.g. a metal alkoxide synthesized by a conventional method or an organic solvent solution thereof is used. The metal is e.g. Zr, Ta; the alkoxyl group is e.g. methoxy group, ethoxy group; and the solvent is e.g. methanol, ethanol. A beta-diketone (e.g. acetylacetone, ethyl acetoacetate) as complexing agent is added at ca.1-3mol to one mol of the metal alkoxide, and e.g. a glass substrate is then coated with the resulting solution which is then made into a thin film, and this film is irradiated with rays of light, thus affording the objective oxide thin film at a low temperature.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for an image receiving layer of an ink jet recording sheet for highly improving water resistance and ink absorbability and the sheet capable of allowing the water resistance and the ink absorbability of contradictory characteristics to be compatible while improving print quality by using the resin composition for the layer of the sheet. SOLUTION: The resin composition for an ink jet recording sheet constitutes an image receiving layer formed on a surface of a base material for the sheet. The composition comprises (1) 2 to 28 wt.% of a crosslinkable group-containing cationic acrylic copolymer (A), 5 to 80 wt.% of a saponified compound of a vinyl acetate copolymer (B), (n1 to 80) wt.% of (3) an aqueous polyurethane (C), (n2 to 60) wt.% of a polyurethane graft polymer mixture (D) and (n3 to 60) wt.% of a polyester graft polymer mixture (E) by solid content conversion ratios so that their total sum is 100 wt.%, minimum value of n1, n2 and n3 is '0' and the condition of (n1+n2+n3)>=5 is satisfied.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which can give a dye receiving layer showing excellent release from a thermal transfer sheet and giving a high-quality recording image by incorporating a urethane resin with a copolymer of a silicone macromonomer with a vinyl monomer. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a urethane resin desirably having a molecular weight of 1×104 to 20×104 and a copolymer of a silicone macromonomer desirably represented by formula I or II and desirably having a number-average molecular weight of 700-40,000 with a vinyl monomer (e.g. methyl methacrylate). In the formulae, R1 is H or CH3; R2 is a 2-4C alkylene; R3 is an alkyl or an aryl; and n is 1 or greater. It is desirable that the copolymer has a silicone macromonomer/vinyl monomer ratio of 0.1/99.9 to 99.1/0.1. Further, it is desirable to disperse the copolymer in the form of particles in the urethane resin.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form clear recording image having high color density and free from bleeding by means of a dye-receiving layer of image reception body for thermal transfer printing. SOLUTION: A dye-receiving layer is formed with a resin composition [a resin composition composed of a urethane resin (1) and a vinyl polymer (2) as resin components] containing a plasticizer which is solid at normal temperature. The examples of the plasticizer which is solid at normal temperature include dicyclohexyl phthalate, and the content of the solid plasticizer in the resin composition is about 0.1-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the resin component. The resin component of the resin composition may comprise a urethane resin (1) and a polymer (2) dispersed in the urethane resin in particle state, or may be a core-shell structure comprising a urethane resin (1) and a vinyl polymer (2) or a polymeric aqueous emulsion containing polymer particles having a micro domain structure.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve releasability from a thermal transfer sheet, color developing density and clarity of an image by a dye receptive layer of a thermal transfer recording image receiving element. SOLUTION: A dye receptive layer is formed of resin composition containing water soluble silicate and vinyl resin. The vinyl resin can be used in the form of water solution or aqueous emulsion. The vinyl resin contains vinyl resin (e.g. acrylic resin, or styrene resin) having a functional group selected from a hydroxyl group, carboxyl group, silyl group, amide bond, and ester bond. A ratio of the water soluble silicate to the vinyl resin is the former/the latter = 1/99 to 99/1 (by weight) in terms of solid content.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical information recording material having excellent high speed high density recording characteristic, by containing antimony(Sb) additionally into a recording material containing tellurium(Te), selenium(Se) and titanium(Ti), and limiting the range of content of respective elements. CONSTITUTION:In an optical recording medium containing Te, Se, Ti formed onto a substrate and having a thin film for recording information through irradiation of light beam, Sb is additionally incorporated in the recording material and the content of respective elements is set such that; 96>=Te>=40, 25>=Se>=1, 5>=Ti>=0, 30>=Sb>=3. Preferably, the substrate is composed of plastic such as polycarbonate, acryl resin, epoxy resin. Recording medium produced in such manner has high recording sensibility, and can be employed for recording of signal in computer and public audio/video appliances.
