Abstract: The invention relates to an improvement to the BMA process for the production of hydrogen cyanide from methane and ammonia in the presence of a platinum-containing catalyst. The problem of sooting, and thus the decrease in activity, of the catalysts can be reduced, or the activity increased, in that the catalyst is doped with an element from the series Cu, Ag, Au, Pd and W. The doping is preferably in the range of 0.01 to 20 mole % doping element, based on Pt.

Abstract: PCT No. PCT/EP96/01453 Sec. 371 Date Sep. 26, 1997 Sec. 102(e) Date Sep. 26, 1997 PCT Filed Apr. 3, 1996 PCT Pub. No. WO96/33009 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 24, 1996This invention relates to a process for the production of granulates by fluidized bed spray granulation and to a device for this purpose. Liquid starting materials may be converted into granulates by fluidized bed spray granulation. In order to ensure elevated material throughput, numerous nozzles, which are moreover susceptible to plugging and encrustation, must be installed. The disadvantages of known processes may be overcome according to the invention by arranging at least two spray nozzles at least partially directed towards each other in such a manner and the quantity of spray is adjusted in such a manner that their spray jets collide within the fluidized bed and substantially no liquid strike-through occurs onto a surface delimiting the fluidized bed or out of the fluidized bed. The spray jets of two spray nozzles directed towards each other collide frontally or enclose an angle of less than 180 DEG ; the angle is preferably between 150 DEG and 180 DEG . The device according to the invention comprises a flow channel (1) with laterally arranged spray nozzles (8), wherein in each case two exactly opposing or staggered spray nozzles are oriented in such a manner that the spray jets collide within the fluidized bed. Sodium percarbonate production is exemplfied.

Abstract: Fluidized-bed coating of peroxy compounds, especially sodium percarbonate for use in detergent and bleaching products. Production of coated peroxy compounds by fluidized-bed coating comprises spraying an aqueous coating solution onto particles of the peroxy compound in a fluidized-bed chamber and drying the coating by means of a fluidizing gas injected through a radial distributor plate at a fluidized bed temperature of 30-70 degrees C, where the fluidizing gas emerges (upwards) from openings in the distributor plate at an angle of less than 35 degrees to the horizontal and the coating solution emerges (downwards) from spray nozzles at the same angle.

Abstract: PCT No. PCT/EP94/00576 Sec. 371 Date Oct. 2, 1995 Sec. 102(e) Date Oct. 2, 1995 PCT Filed Feb. 28, 1994 PCT Pub. No. WO94/24044 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 27, 1994Sodium percarbonate is often used in the form of coated particles to increase its storage stability in detergents. Sodium percarbonate particles coated in accordance with the invention have a coating containing reaction products from the reaction of a dialkali metal tetraborate or alkali metal pentaborate with aqueous hydrogen peroxide. Preferred coating components are: perborax with the formula Na2B4O7xH2O2, where n =2 or 4. The coated sodium percarbonate particles are produced by coating the percarbonate particles using a solution containing the reaction products mentioned above. Detergent, bleaching and cleaning compositions containing sodium percarbonate particles coated in accordance with the invention are distinguished by very high stability in storage.

Abstract: Sodium percarbonate of the formula 2 Na2CO3 3 H2O2 can be produced by fluidised-bed spray granulation by spraying an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate and a hydrogen peroxide solution on sodium percarbonate seeds and evaporating water. The previously necessary use of phosphorus-containing crystallisation inhibitor to prevent blockages and incrustations in and on the nozzle can be avoided by the invention if the solutions are sprayed using a single three-substance pulverisation nozzle with the external mixing of the solutions.

Abstract: In the prior art, sodium percarbonate is coated with compounds which produce a stabilizing action in order to increase the shelf life. There is a need for an improved, boron-free, coating for sodium percarbonate. Proposed by the invention is a particle coating containing sodium carbonate plus one or more optionally partly hydrated magnesium compounds, preferably magnesium sulphate, in a single coat or in separate coats. The coating preferably contains two coats. The particles are produced by spraying aqueous solutions containing the coating compounds on to sodium percarbonate in a fluidized bed and at the same time evaporating off the water. Their long shelf life makes particles coated in this way suitable for use in washing, bleaching and cleaning agents.
