Abstract: A dual-polarized antenna (10) with good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) and high similarity with respect to the radiation patterns is provided. An antenna (10) includes a patch (11), four symmetrically arranged feed structures (12a-12d, 15), two feed ports (13, 13b) and a feed network (14). Radiation pattern similarity is obtained by the pair-wise symmetrical, orthogonal layout of the feed structures (12a-12d, 15). Good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) is achieved through a feed network (14) divided into two network parts (14a, 14b) where each network part (14a, 14b) is designed so that each coupling between a network part (14a, 14b) and a feed structure (12a12d, 15) belonging to the other polarization is cancelled by a mirrored coupling with the other feed structure (12a-12d, 15) belonging to the polarization. In addition, a network part (14a, 14b) is laid out so that its corresponding feed structures (12a-12d, 15) are fed with supporting signals of equal magnitude.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an antenna device and system design forming a modular common antenna surface having various surface portions for transmission and reception as well as integrated transmission and reception within the same common antenna surface, the various surface portions either forming passive or active arrays for transmission or reception. Additionally superimposed surface portions of the modular common antenna surface constitute individual transmit and receive array portions, respectively, sharing the total aperture, the modular common antenna surface producing at least one polarization plane for transmission and generally two orthogonal polarization planes for reception to achieve polarization diversity for the reception. Further the antenna surface of the device and system according to the invention generally form a microstrip module array containing a number of radiation element for transmission and/or reception, and consist of one or several columns of individual element forming the antenna aperture, the column and/or columns additionally in the preferred arrangement having integrated power amplifiers and/or low noise amplifiers (LNA:s), respectively.

The main unit (101) is attachable to and detachable from the mobile communication station (150), while at the same time the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) lack galvanic contact. In an attached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by means of a capacitive connection, and in a detached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by an electric far-field connection.

In an attached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by means of a capacitive connection, and in a detached state, the relay antenna (103) and the local antenna (105) are electrically connected to each other by an electric far-field connection.

Abstract: A method and system of merging signals feeding the antenna elements by using a combiner network and to create an antenna reference point representing the signal representation in the air. This merged signal will be easily accessed for measurement purposes. An additional signal combiner connected to the output terminals of the distributed power amplifier modules of the active antenna creates a measured virtual antenna reference point which may be utilized in testing and typing active antennas having distributed electronics for a certification according to standards for GSM, PDC and DCS. Also discloses a measurement system for application of the new method of obtaining a virtual transmit or receive antenna.

Abstract: An antenna unit transmit and receives radio signals having two different polarizations. The antenna unit includes a slot integrated in a microstrip element and an aperture integrated in a conductive surface on the microstrip element. The aperture is arranged in the conductive surface parallel to its polarization direction. The slot is arranged in an underlying layer directly below the aperture. The conductive surface of the microstrip element is arranged to transmit or receive with a vertical polarization and a first horizontal beam width. The slot is arranged to transmit or receive with a horizontal polarization and a second horizontal beam width. The second beam width is substantially equal to the first beam width. The antenna unit is very compact and light and only causes low power losses. A number of antenna units can be used to design sector antennas or antenna arrays.
