Abstract: Ce procédé est du genre suivant lequel on assure l'absorption, par un matériau polymère de base, d'une composition additive renfermant au moins un monomère apte à conduire un polymère d'indice de réfraction différent. Suivant l'invention, choisissant pour composition additive une composition gonflante, on réalise, suivant une première géométrie (G1), une première préforme (P1) en matériau polymère de taux d'avancement suffisant pour qu'elle soit autoporteuse, on définit un volume de confinement (14) entre elle et un élément de butée ayant une deuxième géométrie (G2) correspondant à un volume supérieur, et on l'y met en contact avec une quantité suffisante de composition additive gonflante pour que le gonflement dont elle est alors l'objet la conduise à épouser sous contrainte cette deuxième géométrie (G2). Application, notamment, à l'obtention de lentilles ophtalmiques.
