    Abstract: The present invention relates to salts of copolymers of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids and ethylenically unsaturated fatty acid derivatives containing (A) 1-99% by weight of structural units A of the formula where R is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, preferably methyl, X is -(CH2)0-10- or C6-C18-aryl, preferably phenyl and M is an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium ion, (B) 99-1% by weight of structural units B of the formula where R is C2-C16-alkyl or C2-C16-alkenyl, Y is C1-C13-alkylene, -CH2-(CH=CH-CH2)1-5- or -(CH=CH)1-3- and Z is a group of the formula CN, C(O)N(R )2, where R is hydrogen, C1-C18-alkyl, C1-C18-alkenyl and/or -(CH2)1-3-OH, COOR , where R is C1-C36-alkyl, preferably C1-C5-alkyl or C16-C36-alkyl, (C) 0-40% by weight of structural units C of the formula where R , R and R are as defined above and W is a group of the formula CN, C(O)N(R )2, where R is as defined above, COOR , where R is C1-C18-alkyl, preferably C1-C10-alkyl and (D) 0-40% by weight of structural units D of the formula where V is C6-C18-aryl, preferably phenyl or phenoxyacetyl, C4-C6-lactam, preferably N-pyrrolidyl, a group of the formula O-R , where R is C1-C18-alkyl, preferably C1-C10-alkyl, a group of the formula (O)C-R or a group of the formula OOC-R . The present invention also provides a process for the preparation thereof and the use thereof.

    Abstract: Emulsifiers for metal processing oils which substantially comprise 30 to 50 weight % of a chlorinated paraffin sulfonate in admixture with a partially chlorinated paraffin; 15 to 30 weight % of reaction products obtained by converting sulfochlorides of alkylaromatic, cycloaliphatic, alkylcycloaliphatic or, preferably, aliphatic hydrocarbons having a total of 12 to 24 carbon atoms to the corresponding alkylsulfonamides with the use of ammonia or primary lower aliphatic amines and subsequently reacting these alkylsulfonamides with halocarboxylic acids having from 2 to 22 carbon atoms in the presence of alkalis, or by reacting the above sulfochloides with aminocarboxylic acids having from 2 to 11 carbon atoms in the presence of alkalis; the reaction products optionally being converted subsequently to the sodium, potassium, mono-, di- or trialkanolamine salts, morpholine salts or cyclohexylamine salts; 15 to 20 weight % of a surface-active compound of the formula R(CH2CH2O)nH in which n is an integer of from 3 to 12 and R is C10-C22-alkanoyloxy or -alkenoyloxy, C8-C22-alkoxy or -alkenoxy, C6-C16-alkylphenyl or -alkylnaphthyl, or mono-, di- or tri-C8-C22-alkyl- or -alkenylamine; and 15 to 25 weight % of a reaction product of mono- or diethanolamine with a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms.
