Abstract: 1339068 Disazo pigment mixtures FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 24056/71 Heading C4P The invention comprises the mixtures of disazo dyes obtained by coupling tetrazotized 4,4 1 -diamino-3,3 1 -dichlorodiphenyl with a mixture of coupling components consisting of (a) 0À5 to 20 mol. per cent of components H-X or H-Y or mixtures thereof and (b) 99À5 to 80 mol. per cent of components H-A or H-B or mixtures thereof, wherein A, B, X and Y are acetoacetylaminoaryl or 1-aryl-5-pyrazolone radicals, X and Y containing 1 or 2 COOH or SO 3 H groups and A and B or X and Y are always different. The products are yellow pigments and are used to colour printing inks or varnishes and in the mass dyeing of synthetic polymers.

Abstract: 1326613 Colouring PVC FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 20 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 40134/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division C4] Polyvinyl chloride is coloured red in the mass by incorporating therein a monoazo pigment of formula wherein X 1 , X 2 and X 3 are a H or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group, R 1 is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group, R 2 is a H atom, an alkyl or alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl, aralkyl or an aryl group which may be substituted by a halogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy CF 3 , alkanoylamino, benzoylamine, alkanoyl, benzoyl, phenoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, sulphonamido or alkylsulphonmido group and R 3 is a H atom or an alkyl or alkenyl group and R 2 and R 3 may form a ring with the N atom (see Divisions C4-C5). In Example 1 polyvinyl chloride, a phthalate ester plasticizer, a pigment as above and TiO 2 were mixed on a roller device to give a yellowish red film.

This new pigment form is obtained by heating the pigment obtained after coupling with a solvent which is immiscible with water or miscible with water to a limited degree only to temperatures above 100 DEG C.

These pigments can be successfully used for dyeing all materials usually dyed with pigments. They are especially suitable for coloring high molecular plastics such as PVC and on account of their excellent resistance to heat, for coloring polyolefins.

Abstract: 1,265,357. Water-insoluble disazo dyestuff mixtures. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 9 Dec., 1969 [9 Dec., 1968], No. 60073/69. Heading C4P. Novel dyestuff mixtures consisting of mixtures of dyestuffs of the Formulae (A), (B) and (C) are prepared by coupling tetrazotized 4,4 1 - diamino-3,3 1 -dichlorodiphenyl with a mixture of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazolone-(5) and 1-p-tolyl- 3-methyl-pyrazolone-(5) in a molar ratio of tetrazotized diamine to pyrazolone mixture of 1 : 2. The mixtures vary in shade from yellowish orange to reddish orange depending on the proportions of the two pyrazolones in the mixtures thereof and the order of mixing when coupling. A dispersant such as an addition product of about 20 moles of ethylene oxide and 1 mole of octadecyl alcohol may be present in the coupling reaction.
