Abstract: The disclosure relates to a print buffer, and its addressing, which is used to edit print data for a multiple electrode print head of a metal paper printer wherein the electrodes of the print head are arranged on a slope. The information to be printed is initially stored in the form of a matrix. In accordance with the arrangement of the electrodes in the print head, this information is edited in the print buffer and editing is effected in such a manner that the desired print image is obtained when the print buffer is read column by column. The information stored in a register in, for example, two groups of four bits each, is read in parallel and edited in the buffer. The information of the upper group is stored in buffer 1 and the information of the lower group in buffer 2. Each column address of the buffers comprises four bit positions. The information is written at different points of the four possible bit positions of different column addresses. One buffer line is associated with each electrode of the print head and the information is written into the buffers taking into account the horizontal stagger of the print head electrodes. The buffers are addressed by a suitable logic as a function of the number of electrodes and their mutual spacing. GE 979 044

Abstract: A print head for an electroerosion printer is provided with a plurality of electrodes, each displaced laterally along the print line by a predetermined distance and using a multiplexing circuit to successively condition each of said electrodes for energization to produce a record mark. The circuit further provides for a single line commonly arranged to carry all energizing signals to all electrodes but effective to initiate energization of the electrodes only upon selection by a decoder. The decoder is operable to condition the individual electrodes in accordance with binary coded signals on a plurality of input lines less in number than the number of electrodes to be controlled. In addition, circuits are provided for energizing a pair of electrodes through a portion of a circuit common to both electrodes by rendering the individual electrodes of the pair responsive only to a particular polarity of electrical signal energization. This technique allows the elimination of a number of control leads originally required and reduces the cost of electrode drivers. Electrode spacing is modified slightly to accommodate the multiplexing control.

Abstract: RECORD MARKING APPARATUS Control circuit for printing head of a metal paper printer with electrodes arranged on a slope, said electrodes being staggered in horizontal projection by the D-fold of their electrode width. The matrix-like structurized character consisting of individual image elements is stored in a main storage. This character information is read out column-by-column and written into predetermined locations of a read/ write buffer storage. Such a write phase is followed by a read-out phase of predetermined locations of the storage for the direct addressing of the electrodes of the writing head. Write and read phases are alternating. For determining the address of the storage locations during the write and read phases two counters are used in particular in connection with a multiplier and an adder, as well as a register for storing the D-value.
