PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize real-time communication between a Web site seller and a prospective Web site customer. SOLUTION: A Web site server automatically detects the visitor to a site and judges whether the visitor gains a profit from an interactive sales session or not. The visitor voluntarily selects a method for communication with the Web site seller by a button to be displayed in a Web page. The Web site server of a Logic on board provides a pop-up window to be displayed in the browser window of the visitor and a corresponding window on the display of the Web site seller. The pop-up window provides communication comprising a chat between the visitor and the Web site seller, an audio and an audio/video.

A portable apparatus (120) includes telecommunications circuitry (375) operable to communicate on a wireless carrier system, and a slave device (470) coupled to the telecommunications circuitry. The slave device (470) is operable to: receive a close-range, standard-protocol signal notification (440) from a master device (430) affixed to a vehicle, and trigger the telecommunications circuitry (375) to transmit to the wireless carrier system notification of an emergency event. The emergency event includes a change above a certain threshold magnitude of speed of the vehicle, a change above a certain threshold magnitude of acceleration of the vehicle, a change above a certain threshold magnitude of rate of acceleration of the vehicle, or deployment of an air bag.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for enabling a transitory message, an advertisement to see, for example, that a user may have previously missed, and to provide a method and a program product. SOLUTION: When a multimedia object is rendered at a client side, the multimedia object including the message is automatically stored without user action. The list of the stored multimedia objects is displayed to the user with selectable control for rewinding and replaying the list of the stored multimedia objects in response to user action. The user can select each multimedia object from the list one at a time for replaying, or the user can reply or rewind a succession of stored multimedia objects by using selectable control.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a customizable touchscreen keyboard, a method and a system for customizing a touchscreen keyboard, and a computer program product. SOLUTION: A data processing system receives customization characteristics from a user through the touchscreen interface, and creates a customized touchscreen keyboard layout based on the customization characteristics, and displays the customized touchscreen keyboard layout to the user. For example, it is possible for the user to customize the keyboard so that characters can be arrayed in an alphabetical order like a U shape, and to easily search a desired character. It is possible for the user to re-customize the keyboard as necessary later. Moreover, the data processing is able to reconstitute the keyboard based on past usage by the user.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method that provide information in a form most suitable for sight-impaired user in a data processing network. SOLUTION: A client device suitable for the connection to a network includes a client application that receives information from the network and presents the received information as audio information to the user. A server, in response to a client's request, provides a client's data processing unit with the information. This system is constituted so that it determines whether at least a fraction of the information that the server has provided is inappropriate for the presentation by the client, and stores the information so that the user gets access to it later, presents the information of visually improved version to the user, or provides a fraction of the information suitable for the presentation to the user by voice, thereby corresponding to the determination.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a device driver for a device is required to be present in a client system so as to make the client system communicate with the device. SOLUTION: A web server 10 receives a request for enabling communication to the device 210 from a thin client 204. As the web server 10 receives the request, an appropriate device driver stored in the web server 10 is selected and executed and the communication between the thin client 204 and the device 210 is converted. The converted communication understandable to the device 210 is transmitted from the web server 10 to the device 210 through the thin client 204. On the basis of a client type and a device type, the appropriate device driver is selected from a library and executed and the communication between the thin client 204 and the device 210 is converted.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a client in the network of computers to participate in an electronic transaction for purchasing a product from a dealer together with plural dealers spread over several web servers, to enable the client to perform a certain transaction with a certain dealer while referring to the result of the other transaction with the other dealer and to be more specific, to present each article, which can be acquired from any dealer, selected by a customer as an individual object in a state corresponding thereto. SOLUTION: Buying, securing or conditional state locks the correspondent object in the web server and while a present customer effectively utilizes that object, the other transaction with the other customer concerning that specified article is prevented from occurring. In order to cancel the previous transaction of the other dealer with the present customer, the conditional state supports the dealer to contact the other dealer by sending a signal to that dealer.
Abstract:
A system, method and program of the invention enables an overloaded or partially functional Web server in an Internet environment to receive an HTTP request for data from a client during a given communication session. The Web server determines whether it can satisfy at least a portion of the request at a present time. If so, then a portion of the data is sent to the client during the given session, and all of the requested data is sent at a later time and outside of the given session either by e-mail or a push technique.
Abstract:
A system, method and program of the invention enables a client in a network of computers to participate with a plurality of merchants across several Web servers in electronic transactions for the purchase of products from the merchants. The client is enabled to make o ne transaction with one merchant dependent upon the results of another transaction with another merchant. More specifically, each item that is available from any merchant and is selected by a customer using the client is represented at the client as a separate object having states associated therewith. A buy, hold, or conditional state will set a lock on the corresponding object at the Web server such that no other transactions with other customers can take place for that specific item whil e the current customer is actively using it. A conditional state sends a signal to the merchant to assist in contacting another merchant in order to cancel a previous transaction that the other merchant h ad with the current customer.
