    Abstract: The shingler wheel (29) according to the invention, for use in a sheet feed apparatus, has fixed, barrel-shaped protrusions (30) spaced about its outer surface which are intended to engage the outermost sheet of a stack of paper to be shingled. Wheel (29) is unitarily constructed and its surface which contacts the sheets of paper is made of a material which produces a lower coefficient of friction between the wheel protrusions and the outermost sheet being shingled than the coefficient of friction between the outermost sheet of paper and its adjacent sheet in the stack.

    Abstract: Apparatus for facilitating printer paper feeding. The apparatus is made up of a yoke and a platen channel carrying a paper aligner and feed rollers. The yoke has downwardly extending legs with a detent therebetween. The apparatus is rotatably positionable on a rod mounted parallel to the platen, and the detent is for accepting the rod. The downwardly extending legs are for cooperating with a tooth of a rotatable comb for causing rotation of the apparatus on the rod. The channel serves as a paper deflector and guide for guiding paper about the platen. Within the channel are openings through which front and rear feed rollers carried by the channel extend. Also within the channel is an aligner opening for accepting the paper aligner which is positionable within the aligner opening. The paper aligner has a downwardly extending leg for cooperating with another tooth on the comb to position the aligner within the aligner opening. Due to the structure of the apparatus, a member thereof can be utilized and positioned on the rod to accommodate any length platen.

    Abstract: A microphone switching apparatus for operating a recorder. The apparatus is incorporated into a hand microphone housing having a speaker, a microphone element, and an opening through which a control button for the apparatus extends. The apparatus is generally made up of a multi-region magnet movable along a path relative to a number of reed switches. Switching positions lie along the path which is defined by a slot in the apparatus frame corresponding to the opening in the housing. The control button is connected to a bolt which in turn is connected to the magnet. Movement of the button to the various switching positions will result in a combination of the reed switches being picked and dropped by the magnet. The picking and dropping of the reed switches will provide operating signals to the recorder. Also, maintaining the control button at two of the switching positions requires operator control in that if the operator releases the button, it will spring back to a previous position. Springs indirectly acting against the magnet cause the button to spring back to the previous position. As to the remaining positions, springs also indirectly act against the magnet, but latching means will maintain the button in place in the absence of operator control.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for randomly selecting and automatically testing electronic components such as surface mount passive electronic components. A detachable hopper is utilized to contain a plurality of randomly oriented electronic components which are agitated pneumatically and urged by vibration and gravity into a uniform orientation within a groove in an inclined track plate. A seal plate acts in conjunction with the groove within the track plate to form an elongate throat passage which is periodically cleared to prevent clogging by pulsating pneumatic pressure. A component detection circuit is utilized to detect the presence of an electronic component at a predetermined testing postition and a pair of movable conductive probes are then urged into contact with the component to permit testing. In response to a successful test the component under test is then ejected pneumatically back into the detachable hopper. In the discussed embodiment of the present invention, an unsuccessful test will require the unsatisfactory component to be manually removed from the testing position by the operator of the apparatus.
