    Abstract: An apparatus for receiving and storing a number of record members and adapted to have record members unloaded therefrom. The apparatus is comprised of a housing having cooperating top and bottom enclosures which form a front opening for loading and unloading a number of record members, and a side opening for loading one record member. Arcuate recesses form part of the front opening for facilitating manual loading of record members. Elongated slots open in each arcuate recess for facilitating mechanical unloading. Further, the housing has an orientation and guide rib for insuring proper orientation and guiding for such purposes as mechanical loading and unloading. In addition, the housing has a worm groove opening adjacent the front opening which cooperates with associated structure for insuring proper positioning for mechanical unloading.

    Abstract: A modular design disc receiving apparatus that is utilized as a cartridge holder or output hopper. When utilized as a cartridge holder, push to latch, push to unlatch means position the cartridge for proper disc insertion, thereby readying the apparatus for its function as a cartridge holder. The apparatus comprises means for counting and giving visual indication of the number of discs ejected into the cartridge, and means for sensing a cartridge full situation, thereby enabling associated feeding systems, and, accordingly, preventing jamming of the apparatus. In addition, the apparatus is utilized as a disc output hopper, in the situation where a cartridge is not being used. When used, as aforementioned, the capacity of the apparatus is approximately doubled. Discs ejected into the apparatus are neatly stacked so that they protrude from the front of the apparatus where they can be seen and easily removed. When the apparatus is completely filled with discs, a subsequently ejected disc will be forced out of the apparatus to prevent jamming.

    Abstract: The present invention resides in an improved apparatus and method for replenishing the ribbon supply in a high speed printer or the like. A stationary ribbon supply is provided in a two reel, cartridge (2). Connected to the printer frame adjacent the stationery cartridge on either side is a flexible ribbon guide (6) for maintaining the ribbon in operative relation to a print element (10) on a moving carrier (12). … When the ribbon supply is exhausted, the specially designed ribbon segments extending from the cartridge are severed. The flexible ribbon guide (6) still contains a segment of the old ribbon in the properly threaded position for printing. The old cartridge is removed. A new cartridge with ribbon leaders having adhesive portions for splicing with the old ribbon segment remaining in the flexible guide structure is inserted. The operator then manually performs adjustments required to resume printing.

    Abstract: The purpose of the apparatus is to feed envelopes from a first hopper (40) to a print station (30) and then to deliver it to a second hopper (70) located over the first one, the print station being transversely oriented with respect to both hoppers. The uppermost envelope (44) in hopper (40) is first rotated 90 DEG by the combined action of a roller (50) and a pivot post (58); it is then conveyed to the print station (30) by a an endless belt (110) and back up rollers (120), where it is rotated 180 DEG ; then it is conveyed to the second hopper (70) by endless belt (110) and back up rollers (122); there it is again rotated 90 DEG by the combined action of a paddle wheel (74) and a notch (72) located in the side wall of the second hopper, and then is delivered to said second hopper with the appropriate orientation.

    Abstract: A method of making a plurality of multi-wire nonimpact printheads provides precise inter-wire spacing accuracy and repeatability of manufacturing steps to enable mass production.A plurality of slats (13) ate molded, one alongside another on a cylindrical support shell (11), parallel to the shell axis. A helical thread is engraved on the slats along the axial length of the support shell. A continuous wire (16) is wrapped in the thread and the portions of the wire on the slats are encapsulated. The support shell and wrapped wire is cut between adjacent slats to obtain a plurality of printhead blanks. Each blank is machined to smooth the exposed print wires. The resultant printheads may be used in page-width nonimpact printers.
